WHO: Asteria Davies, Roger Davies, Friends and Family.
WHEN: Sunday June 22nd, 2002
WHERE: Greengrass family home
WHAT: The Wedding
RATING: E for Everyone
STATUS: Open // In Progress

After witnessing Daphne's absolutely gorgeous wedding the previous day, Asteria couldn't have asked for more when it came to her own. Her family, despite already working so hard to make Daphne's a success the day before, helped her create her own perfect wedding and she had to admit, it came pretty close to the fairy tale wedding she'd wanted. There had been a couple times during the ceremony where she had to fight back a wave of panic, but given the small size of the wedding and the fact that the majority of the people there were people she knew, it hadn't been as bad as she expected, though she was almost positive she'd turned a shade of red, a shade to rival the wine trimming on her dress, when Roger had kissed her.

The dress choice had been a bit of a surprise. She had been fully intending to go the traditional, all white route, but she'd stumbled upon her choice in one of the last shops her and Daphne had visited. By that point Daphne had found her perfect dress and she was feeling a bit disappointed. She hadn't thought of adding a splash of colour, but fell in love with the idea when she saw it. Thankfully, her mother had been an absolutely saint about changing the colours for the wedding. It simply wouldn't do if she didn't match.

Once the ceremony had been completed and the wedding photo's taken, the wedding party and guests moved into the Ballroom to mingle and relax. She still had to mingle and thank the guests, but Roger would be with her so together they could handle those individuals she didn't know. Once that was completed the hard part of the day would be over and she would be able to breathe a little easier.

Roger had to admit that he was quite surprised that Asteria hadn't gone with the traditional all white, but she looked absolutely stunning with the wine colored accents. Everything was perfect in the wedding, and Roger was amazed at all of the work that had been done without his knowledge. Likewise, his parents were also quite impressed, and had to have told him at least ten times how lovely his bride was.

Now that the pictures and the ceremony were finished, it was time to mingle with the guests, and Roger was fairly certain that Asteria was nervous about it. He still wasn't totally in tune with Asteria's moods, but if he had to guess, he thought that she wouldn't like it. Big crowds, she didn't necessarily know everyone... It seemed like a perfect recipe for disaster.

After smiling and thanking what seemed like the hundredth guest, Roger turned to give Asteria a warm smile. "How're you holding up, love?" he asked in a quiet voice, smiling and nodding as some more guests walked by and voiced compliments and praise for the new, beautiful couple.

For the most part Asteria was getting used to the situation, granted she'd had some difficulty in forcing herself to walk down that aisle. Not because she didn't want to go through with it, but because everyone would be turned and looking directly at her. She'd managed everything the best she could, her acting skills coming in to save her on more then one occasion. She might have been panicking on the inside, but she was as collected as she could be on the outside. She was just glad that the ceremony was over.

After that her nerves had remained a bit jittery but not overly horrible, so she moving through it as she smiled and thanked the guests, the smile somewhat shy for those she didn't know. The bright spot in meeting new people had been Roger's parents. They seemed really nice and didn't seem to hold any of this against her, which she worried they might...her own parents....well, her mother was aloof when it came to Roger and the typical tears when it came to her, her Father just seemed happy, and her brother's had glared....a much better option then what she had originally worried they'd do. In time they'd warm up, she was sure.

When Roger spoke to her, she had to pull herself back from her musings to responded. "I feel a little awkward and out of place, but I'll be fine." she responded, a small smile tugging at the corner of her lips. "I just want everyone to come in so the spot light can be turned away from us." In all honesty, her mother had tried to cut back on all the attention, but what could one do when they were trying to protect the bride.

"Not too much longer," Roger said with a small smile, glancing around some people and seeing that the line finally seemed to be getting shorter. "After we do our little greetings, you can sneak off and mingle with some of your friends. Like that Mikael guy." There was no question in Roger's mind that there was some sort of a bond between his wife and Mikhael, and for the moment he was content to let it be. Asteria seemed like she had a very small circle of close friends and it certainly wouldn't do for him to try to push any of them away.

When Roger saw the approach of his quidditch team and Coach Lynch, he barely suppressed a groan. There was no way that he couldn't invite them, but he wasn't exactly looking forward to them meeting Asteria either. He was quite convinced that they were going to scare her off permanently.

But the meeting went better than expected, and they were all on their best behaviors, even Lynch. Naturally, the photographers that had managed to slip past security wanted a picture of the newly weds and his team, and he gave Asteria an apologetic smile as they all got into place. "Sorry love," Roger said softly, "I promise, this is the last picture they're going to get."

After a few pictures, Roger broke away from the group and had a few quiet words with the photographers. He cocked his head back to the security that the Greengrasses had hired and made it clear that he didn't care what they did since he hadn't hired them personally. The photographers got the message and scattered, taking a few snapshots of the guests as they did.

Asteria nodded, smiling when she realized that he was trying to make her more comfortable. It was sweet, but there was little he could do. Sooner or later, it would be over and she'd be fine. She could handle this...she was determined to...even if she'd have trouble sleeping later.

Roger had told her about inviting the team and she hadn't minded that he had. He did spend a lot of time with the other players and new them quite well, it was only right that the offer of attending was accepted. It would ultimately be there choice whether they came or not, but she hadn't expected to meet them all at once. It was a bit frightening having such a large group approach them at once and it didn't help that most of them were far bigger then she was, but she did make it through, even if she did move a little closer to Roger when they came closer.

She was relieved when the Photographers moved back. The flashes were not only hard on the nerves, but very annoying. There had been several times already where a bright flash had caught her off guard and left her blinking in an attempt to refocus her eyes.

Roger drew back to stand with Asteria, smiling and nodding as he met some of her colleagues and bosses from work. They were a stately looking lot, and certainly contrasted with his team that was still milling around. What a pair he and Asteria made, with their seemingly opposite lives. Could it ever work?

He certainly hoped so.

After meeting another large group of people that were friends with Asteria's family, Roger gently led his wife over to their table where they could start eating. He was quite hungry, as he hadn't been able to eat anything for breakfast from nerves, and was looking forward to dinner. If it was anything like Daphne and Harry's wedding, the food was going to be absolutely delicious.

He pulled out Asteria's chair with a small smile, waiting for her to sit before he took a seat as well.

She was so glad to finally be able to blend in. Greeting everyone had taken more out of her then she would have thought. Given her nerves, she still wasn't too hungry...or rather, she didn't want to trust it. Perhaps she could get her mother to put something aside for her for once all the guests had left.

Gathering her skirt up so she didn't step on it, she took the seat Roger had pulled out for her. "Thank you," she smiled when he sat down beside her. Her feet were rather thankful to finally have a break. They weren't exactly happy about the heels she was wearing, but they would have to suffer until after they danced. She wanted to be at least close to Roger's height.

She was distracted from her thoughts when Braedon appeared beside her. They spoke for a moment before he placed a kiss on her forehead and offered a curt nod to Roger before moving on to locate their mother. Apparently, she had them running around making sure things were perfect. "My brother's weren't too horrible with you this morning, were they?" she asked, turning back to Roger with a concerned looked. She hadn't thought about the fact that they had met until she's spotted Braedon. "They do tend to be a little....over protective."

"They were...." Roger paused, wondering what word he should use to describe the interactions with Asteria's brothers. "Standoffish," Roger finally decided on with a small shrug. He understood their impulse, Asteria was the baby of the family and it was their natural instinct to protect her. Especially from a famous quidditch player, who some men tended to think of as a playboy.

"But I'm sure it will get better with time," Roger added, thinking about the conversation they'd finally had about quidditch. They were talking about their favorite teams, and Roger decided that he would get them some free tickets at some point. it wouldn't be hard, he'd just have to make sure that Lynch didn't catch word of it. Lynch would throw an unreasonable fit when he heard.

"You sure you want to dance in those?" Roger asked quietly, gesturing down at Asteria's feet. He caught a glance at the shoes earlier and saw how uncomfortable they looked. He'd never understand why women went through the great lengths and pains they did...

She was relieved that things seemed to be working out between her family and Roger. They might be a bit stressful now, but there was definitely signs that it would improve. After all the boys hadn't hurt him, that was something...right?

When he mentioned her shoes, she chuckled lightly and glanced down at them before returning her attention to Roger. "I'll be alright. After the inital dances are over, I'm allowed to change into something a little more comfortable." she smiled softly.

"What about you?" she asked, letting her eyes wander over his outfit. "Are you comfortable in that? I can have father find you something that will fit you. I'm sure the boys have something."

"I'm fine," Roger said with a small shrug as he looked down at himself. While it was certainly more formal than he was used to, Roger was quite comfortable in what he was wearing. It certainly seemed hundreds of times more comfortable than the laced up dress that Asteria was in. A flash of alarm struck Roger when he thought that he might have to get her out of that. Would he even be able to? And what would happen once she was out of that dress?

Roger firmly pushed those thoughts out of his head and gave Asteria a small grin, "we can have the dance to start everything whenever you want. I don't mind waiting to give your feet a bit of a rest."

"I think once they're finished setting everything up we should probably go ahead and start." she responded, glancing around at their guests. "At least that way everyone can relax a little bit."

In all honesty, she'd worn shoes like this for a lot longer period of time. Her feet would ache until she took them off, but it wasn't something she couldn't handle.

"I'm ready whenever you are," Roger said softly, looking around at the group of people there for the wedding. He took a rather large sip of his champagne and wondered when the food was going to come out. As he'd expected, Asteria's mother had kept him and his parents tightly out of the wedding plans. He was fairly certain it was going to stay that way...
