Candy Quackenbush can walk on water. ([info]toitshour) wrote in [info]undertherainbow,

I did it! I did it! I summoned a glyph all by myself and piloted it out to the ocean. It's not quite the Abarat - the sea smells different - but I'll take it.

It's nice being alone. I didn't realize princesses had so many people around them constantly.

I'm glad it still works for you, Candy. Sounds like a nice way to get away for a little bit.

I am too. If you ever need to get away, I can take you somewhere. I know there's those portkey things, but flying is fun.

I appreciate the offer. If this divorce doesn't go as planned, I may have to take you up on that offer.

Let me know anytime. I'm still getting used to the sun going down and coming up in a rhythm again, so I haven't been sleeping well.

Maybe you should try sleeping pills until you can get the hang of it?

Maybe, but they sort of scare me. I don't mind. I just stay awake until I'm tired. Maybe I should move to Alaska.

I'd avoid places with prolonged night. I have it on good authority that vampires exist, so too much night might be sort of a bad idea.

You like the ocean? Are you from the sea?

I miss it.

I'm not from the ocean, but I once spent a bit of time in a world that was simply twenty-five islands and the sea. I got there by letting the sea carry me for a time. It's gotten to the point where I can't sleep if I don't smell it.

There's a great deal of ocean here in the Hereafter, where do you live?

Right now, I live in Los Angeles. So I can get to the sea anytime.

But I'm not the same girl I once was, so being in the sea all the time isn't an option for me anymore.

You should get a houseboat.

I should?

I should. I could be on the water all the time. I really do miss it. More than I thought I would.

Being a princess can be completely crazy, but it has it's moments.

It seems okay so far, I just kind of miss privacy.

You know they have to listen to you, right? If you want to be alone for a while, you can do that.

... right? Is it different here?

I'm just not used to giving orders. I'm trying to figure out how to say it nicely.

Just say it gently. Tone has a lot of weight.

"So and such, do this and that, please." And then smile graciously, maybe a small tilt of your head and then add, "Thank you."

Oh, yeah. That'd be helpful. Just out of curiosity, what are you princess OF?

I agree. The seas are different here, even from my world. But I've found I don't mind.

I could not bear life without them.

I wonder if all of us sea-minded people should find an island to settle.

I live by a harbor, that tides me over most of the time and a few of us pirates are going on a voyage soon, so I won't be lonely for the sea much longer.

Nothing too big, it'd be something that I could sail myself with another person. I'd have to paint it red. Something I could live on for a week or two.
