I've discovered something horrifying.

Since getting here, I've been staying in a hotel and paying with whatever cash I have on me. (This, I guess, should've been my first clue. I have a lot more on hand than I used to.) I was honestly afraid to look at my ID.

So I am relaxing on the couch in the suite I've been staying in, wondering why the bellhop keeps coming to the door with free room service. I feared maybe I was a politician. (Nothing against you guys if there are any politicians reading this, it's just that politics is not my style at all.) I developed several theories. Maybe I was just a very frequent guest of this hotel, and they were rewarding my loyalty by providing me free room service, even when I haven't asked for the food or the drinks they bring. Maybe I was an assassin that had serviced a prominent member of the hotel staff, and thus get to make use of room service for free. (Not that I can see myself killing people for money, but it at least explained the free room service.) Maybe I was just really, really lucky.

So I was watching a movie while relaxing. It was a harmless movie, despite the star of it recently becoming a little bit of a nutjob. I actually liked this movie.

Mission: Impossible. (Some of you will be able to see where I am going with this.)

So I'm watching, and I'm enjoying it, right? And then Ethan Hunt reveals himself on screen, and who do I see? I do not see that wacky, couch-jumping spokesman for Scientology.

I see myself.

I've never seen it. Is that bad?

Not really, no. I mean, it's a good movie, but if you don't like action/spy movies, you probably won't enjoy it too much. If you do like action/spy movies, you probably will like it. I liked it enough to buy it, back where I came from.

Well, I meant 'is that bad that you're a man from a movie', but I've only seen one movie before. Lots of action, and some rebel spies: Star Wars.

Well, it's bad because I'm pretty sure this man is insane. He's, uh, let's just say he's the punchline to a lot of jokes.

Oooh. That's not good at all. I'm sorry.

Plus? He has a wife and a kid. Which means I now have both...which I am just not ready for on so many levels.

OH, dear. Yeah, I can definitely see where that might be a problem for you.

I'm looking into a divorce now. I definitely can't stay married to her, but I don't know what to even begin doing about the-no, I guess I should say my child.

Are you sure divorce won't look sudden and extreme? If you're from movies, don't they usually keep their wives and children on another continent anyway?

A lot of them, yes. Not this guy, though.

I know it's going to look all kinds of crazy, but I really don't know what else to do.

If he's already completely over the falls like you say, then one more crazy act won't really matter? I hope.

Yeah, that's...that's pretty much what I'm hoping, too.

Of course, the media will still jump on the "deadbeat dad" image. Wonderful. I'm not getting out of this clean, am I?

Deadbeat? Not if you pay appropriate amounts of money and show up every few months to hold the child, yes? Or do you not want to do that, either?

The money is no problem at all. I feel guilty enough about this as it is, no way am I missing child support. Interacting at all with t-my child...

It's going to feel so weird. And...yes, I'll be honest, a little unpleasant. I know that probably sounds horrible of me, but this isn't something I asked for. Less than a week ago I was working up the nerve to tell someone I loved her, and now I'm a father to a child I've just met? I don't know what to do. I'll show up once and a while. I don't really have a choice, I guess...

I don't find that weird. The child isn't TECHNICALLY yours. You could not fight it if she wants to keep the child to herself. Most mothers do.

Oh, I wouldn't fight it at all. It would make things easier, actually.

Besides asking if there's anyone with reality warping powers? Nope. And that's probably a slippery slope, so I'm gonna avoid that one.

Oh, well....

Yeah, that's probably not good. I'm sorry that this is bothering you, Henry. You seem like such a nice guy and this is all very disturbing. Wives and children that don't belong to you.

I mean, I'm sure it's no picnic for them either. None of this is fair, to anyone involved. I can usually find a way to keep things balanced and fair, but there really is no way to do that here.

I suppose the best you can do is hope for the best. If there's anything I can do, let me know.

Well, I'm used to traveling to other worlds, so the vortex itself isn't too weird for me. This situation it plopped me down in, though, is very weird.
