Gah, I have to choose my major. Can I double major in things?

In things, or in Things™, because I'm fairly sure that you can, if it's the latter.

Business management and film, actually. I don't think this school has a Things™ course.

In that case yes, I'm sure you can double major in things, as they are two different things.

I really don't think I can handle that kind of course load with work on top of it, but if I double up on my major, I can give myself more time to choose.

It's Saturday, I shouldn't even be thinking about... anything, actually. Do you have plans for tonight?

Indeed it is, so you shouldn't.

No, I don't, actually. Things have been quiet lately.

Dinner and a movie, then?

Sounds like a plan.

Good, because I went out of my way to find the weirdest place to have dinner, and someone gave me tickets to this Frankenweiner or whatever it's called.

Does this mean I'm going to have to get out my good tie?

Only if you want to. It's a rib house, though, so I'd probably save the good tie for... places that won't get greasy barbecue stains on it.

You should, ah, consider yourself lucky, you get to see me dressed down, for once.

There's a dressed down flavor of Charlene? What madness is this??

Well, it won't be jeans and a tee shirt, that's what you wear when you're trying to get rid of a body.

I'll be over in a couple hours to pick you up.

Maybe. And a size too big OR a size too small, just to throw them off.

You know where to find me.

I thought you said you hated business? In fact, I thought you had already majored in it once?

You know there really isn't any reason why you have to work your way through school. Why not take the double major and focus your laser intellect on that?

I did, for music business management. This is uh. Different business.

True. I could, but between both school and work, as well as other responsibilities, I don't think I could handle a double major. I really have to decide which I'd rather do, honestly. Do I want to make the movies I love so fucking much, or do I want to own a bar one day? It's really something I don't know if I can choose right now.

So how's everything going with you? I heard that you dragged CD out into the middle of nowhere because you found the best acoustics in some podunk bathroom?

If you say so. I would have thought business was business, but that's why I need a manager.

If it were me, and I know it isn't, I'd go for the film - where your heart is. You can go back for business later, when you are ready to open a business and the information will be fresher. No point in stressing yourself only to have to go back for refreshers 20 years from now when you are a famous director. Really though. Follow you heart, there is always time later to be responsible when you aren't counting regrets.

Things are going well. I found some awesome reverb off the tile in this ladies bathroom at a Love's truckstop in Oregon. CD had to stand on a toilet with the boom mike, but the recording is primo. Don't worry. I made sure it was flushed.

Managing a band isn't managing a bar. I know how to balance a budget for a bunch of musicians and know what needs doing for that, but I don't know how to run a bar. Totally different skill set. Actually, it's kind of crazy and it freaks me out a little about how little I actually know about how to run a place.

But you're right, Stoney. If I do wind up making movies and whatever, I won't be doing it while simultaneously running a bar. That's beyond even my capabilities. I think... well.

You're right.

Dear gods in Valhalla, I hope you found a way to recreate that acoustic tone in the 'haus. Oregon is... uh. Terrible.

I will say... if you want to take a few foundational business courses, you probably want to take movie making business courses. So you know when the producers and accountants are trying to snow you.

I wouldn't put anything past your abilities, but Charles once warned me that a man cannot follow two masters. You know where your heart really lies.

I believe I can recreate it. If not, we can just dismantle the room and bring it here. Just for the record, women get really testy when you occupy their bathroom. I think it took a week for the shiner CD got from one of them to clear up.

You know, if it weren't for the fact that I know he loves his job, I'd be telling you to not push him so hard. Just... take it easy on him, all right? He's still like, five.

That's just the thing, Stoney. I don't know where I feel most at ease. Where my heart goes. As much as you want to help, pushing me to decide might not be a good course of action, because what if it isn't what I want, after all? I'm not going to be young forever, dude.

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound pushy. If it isn't what you want, you go do something else. You're lucky that way. You CAN do something else. You may even find out that you don't want to do film or bar-tending in 50 years.

Being young isn't all that it's cracked up to be. Lots of old people make whole new careers for themselves. You have a much better chance of getting old, now, too.

You're right. I'm used to having a lot more gears around. I'll back off a bit. I don't want to break him.

That's entirely true. You know... you have that freedom, too. I know your heart beats like the rhythm of a bass line, but if you ever want to pursue something else, you can.

Yeah, no breaking CD. I still need him from time to time, too, you know. Dude's been like a dad to me. I'll tell you what. I'll talk to the LeBeaus and see if they're still doing the transfer deal they had with us. We would send them shitty Gears to work as security, and they'd send us whatever overflow from their applicants they had.

Talking to the LeBeaus sounds like a good idea. Or I can stop being quite such a spoiled dilettante. Nah. Not happening. XD

I can't imagine what else I might do. Have you ever been really good at something, but find it mind boggling boring? That's how I feel about engineering. Maybe I need to take a road trip. You know, find myself. I could do time in a Tibetan monastery, learn a new kind of martial art, and become a masked superhero.
