Aren't there any dragons here?

Knights and villagers who can throw magic are probably a different thing altogether, though. Better to hide than risk being slain by a wandering idiot.

Dragons have magic, too. And breathing fire tends to be an effective defense, if all else fails.

Doesn't stop some people from managing to slay them. There's at least two people here who've managed it back in their home universes.

...Oh. The only time I've heard of a dragon being killed, it was by another dragon. I suppose this vortex brings in all sorts.

So you think that, if there are dragons, they're hiding somewhere.

Most likely. Can't exactly blame them.

Back home the dragons kept to themselves in the mountains, but I think that was mainly practicality. Dragons aren't exactly small, the caves were the most comfortable space for them. People knew they were there, they just left them alone most of the time. Well, there was the occasional knight or wizard, but they could mostly be handled.

From what I've heard, most dragons prefer caves, despite them being a little cramped. A smaller space means it's less difficult to defend, so if anyone does get the idea to try and slay them... well, they'll leave substantially more on fire than when they came in.

Hm. I suppose it would be different for a dragon living alone. The dragons I knew, they each had their own caves, but they were all connected by tunnels and there were communal areas in between. Not exactly easy or safe to navigate, so anyone who wasn't familiar with them would be at a severe disadvantage. I wouldn't call Kazul's caves 'cramped'... But then, I'm not a dragon, so I suppose I can't judge.

Sorry, I'm being rude. I'm Princess Cimorene. Until very recently, I was Kazul's princess. She's a dragon. King of them now, back home.

Guess dragons are just very different in your world. In the one I was born in, they were pretty solitary... at least, the bigger ones were.

I'm Aedan. And I have to say, never known dragons had kings.

It sounds that way. I'm sure there are advantages to both. Solitary dragons wouldn't have to worry about dragon politics, which is probably safer for everyone.

Oh, they had a big ritual and everything. Which they really don't appreciate being interrupted, as it turns out.

Dragons and politics. That just sounds like a recipe for disaster.

Definitely. That's the reason I found a fireproofing spell.

I've been trying to work out a spell like that for years. My mother has this nasty tendency to try and set people on fire when they annoy her, so... a spell like that would've saved me a lot of trouble.

Do you think you could maybe teach me it? I can try and do something for you in return, if you want.

I wouldn't mind at all. The hardest part is finding powdered hens' teeth. If you can find some, I'd be happy to show you.
