Well, not exactly what I expected.

Yes. Apparently we're the majority. Not just mutants, but mages as well, and other sorts of meta-humans, though if you ask me, I'd say it's mutation from somewhere without the science to prove it.

Who knows, I mean, until we have time to prove it one way or another.

And there doesn't seem to be outright war?

No more so than usual. And the humans seem to be waging it mostly amongst themselves, as they do.

But look at it this way, Charles, if you were, say, a small island nation, and your would-be enemy vastly outmatched you in firepower as well as sheer numbers, would you really try an outright war?

Oh the optimism.

Anyway, perhaps we could meet? I seem to be in New York. Apparently I have replaced a teacher at a private school here.

Optimism is your hobby, Charles, not mine.

Even in another universe and fifty years in the future you can't escape being a professor, it seems. I've landed in considerably more wealth than I know what to do with, the erstwhile and philandering son of a steel magnate of all things.

But yes, I would quite like to meet, actually, and as it so happens, I'm in New York as well. Heart of the city itself, it's changed since we last saw it.

However could I forget.

Apparently not. I did always feel like it was my calling to teach. That, however, does not sound much like your calling.

It has changed a great deal. And yet some things haven't changed at all, strangely enough. I am at [address] if you'd like to meet me here, or I can meet you somewhere.

It really isn't. But no one seems to expect me to be anywhere at any given time, so I'm free to come and go as I please, which suits me fine.

I can be there within the hour.

That does sound convenient.

I will see you then.
