I want a drink so damn bad right now, and it would be so easy.

But you know what? I'm not going to give in. I'm going to over dose on coffee, but I'm not going to touch the booze.

A drunk driver hit my son, on my wedding night. There's been enough booze in our lives.

Today, have been sober 145 days.

Ah. That's the difficulty with rumour. I'd heard a young woman at the scene had nearly assaulted the driver in question.

I hope LVPD finds him soon.

That much is true, and had my other son been present, he would have...But Candy was more concerned with seeing Sam to safety. The driver got away, unfortunately.

Only temporarily, I trust. Given the amount of electronic surveillance present in Las Vegas, the odds may well be in your favour. Also, I understand the forensic specialists are exceptional.

My people are better, and we will find him.

And when they do?

I don't know. Sam is my main concern.

I'm not working a con, I just want him to pay for what he's done to my son.

I understand the impulse, Mr. Ford, even without being a parent.

I do think you should let LVPD do their job.

Do you know he died once? I laid him in the ground when he was 8 years old. Cancer. Do you have any idea what that is like? Out living your child is perhaps the more horrific experience a parent can endure.

Perhaps the LVPD will get off their asses long enough to find the bastard who ran my son down. More power to them, if they do. If they fail, my people will find him and see that justice is served.

I said I wasn't a parent. But I understand the impulse.

Justice served for who? For Sam? That's all well and good. What else has this driver done? Maybe he's just some idiot who had one drink too many one night and swerved at the wrong time. Maybe he's something more. Maybe the LVPD finding him would bring justice to other people in addition to your son.

There's a host of reasons why peace officers aren't allowed to work cases in which they have a personal interest.

Duly noted, Inspector. However, my people are adults, and they make their own choices. They're not dogs I can call in from the yard.

I think it beneficial if we end this conversation now, Inspector. I would like to continue to consider you a friend.

I just. I appreciate your concern. But it's really not your concern.

Thank you again, for coming to the wedding.

I understand, Mr. Ford.

You are welcome. I hope you and Sophie have a long and happy marriage.
