I don't have a mother. Is it possible to miss something you've never had?

So did you just give up on getting clean, or what? And now you're working on making sure the rest of my family becomes alcoholics? Awesome. You're one hell of a guy, you know that?

Lately? Pretty much. And I'm not making anyone into an alcoholic. I met Lindsey when he asked for someone to go drinking with.

It's funny, because the last time we talked I thought I made it pretty clear I didn't want you hanging out with my dad unless you cleaned up. Since you guys have been having poker nights and shit, I thought you were actually trying.

I was trying, Sam. I really was.

You know, it's easy for you to sit in judgement of me, surrounded as you are by the people whom you love, and having no idea of what I've gone through. Your dad should be thankful that he has someone like you encouraging him to stay on the straight and narrow.

You lied to me. You told me you'd stay away from my dad. So yeah, I'm pissed. I think I have that right. My dad is thankful that he has me. Yeah, he's lucky, but that doesn't mean you have to wallow like this. You can get yourself some help. You can go to the same meetings my dad's going to.

I haven't spoken to your dad since I fell off the wagon, so no, I haven't lied to you.

I could. Right now I don't want to. Your dad can go home and he has you. Not everyone here is so fortunate in their circumstances.

Fine. Whatever. You go back to feeling sorry for yourself. Good luck with that.

I wish I had a son like you, Sam.
