I've never been attached to a woman before. Not officially, anyway. There wasn't really time for it in the Grey Wardens, or in the Chantry for that matter.

I know it probably means very little now knowing my own lack of experience in such matters, but if he is that willing to give you up, I doubt that he's worth it all.

You shouldn't let it trouble you.

It's hard. I've loved him most of my life. Is the Chantry like priests? If you don't want to talk about it, I understand.

I'm sorry. I've never been very good with the words. Morrigan always used to make fun of me for it, called me an idiot. Constantly.

The Chantry is the major religious group in Ferelden. There are others, of course, but it's the most widely accepted.

I was a Templar there until I was recruited into the Grey Wardens. I'd been shipped off to the Chantry when I was still young, and until recently, there hadn't been any women in the Grey Wardens.

So, there you have it. The complete unabridged story of my life. Hope I didn't bore you with it too much.

Morrigan? What, like the goddess?

Wow, your world sounds amazing. We don't have templars anymore.

Alistair, I like it when you talk. I'd be the one with the boring stories. Demon hunters are a dime a dozen here.

Goddess? No. She's an apostate, for one, and she's a complete and utter bitch for second. She's more of a witch than anything. Just like her mother.

It's not that I wanted to be a Templar. It was my only option. If Duncan hadn't recruited me into the Grey Wardens, I would have been a Lyrium-addled drooling idiot, smiting every mage I happened to stumble across in nothing but my small clothes.

The Chantry likes to keep their Templars under control, after all.

Your stories sound... interesting. We killed a few demons, mostly of the Desire Variety. Last one we took on, though, was at Redcliffe. A boy named Connor was possessed by one. Almost thought we wouldn't be able to do anything to save him.

But in the end, our fearless leader once again saved the day.

What's an apostate? I don't know your world. I just know here, she's a figure associated with death during battles. Crows are "her" bird.

... the Templars are addicted to drugs? And I don't know, smiting in your knickers sounds kind of cut.

Ugh, those are the worst demons, the ones that work on kids. I don't usually enjoy killing things, but then? Then I do. I'm just glad you guys did.

Crows, huh? Seems like it'd fit someone like Morrigan. Apostates, by the way, are mages that act outside of the Circle. The Circle. They train mages, and like the templars, are run by the Chantry. As a templar, I was to hunt down the apostates--mages outside of The Circle.

When I became a full templar, anyway. I didn't. Was recruited into the Grey Wardens before I could finish it.

The Chantry liked to keep everything under control, not just the Mages. That includes the templars. Lyrium was the best method of control for that--the Chantry controlled the Lyrium market. It wouldn't be easy for a Templar to just up and leave once they were trained.

Yes, we managed to avoid using Blood Magic. It was thanks to the Lady Warden--if we hadn't sought the help of the Circle, Connor or his mother would have been killed along with the demon.

I'm just guessing you don't like her? I have some friends that are mages, but there's no Circle here, and there wasn't in their world either. They're good people, though, they've helped save lots of others.

I don't know if I like the idea of being controlled by religion. I have faith, but I'm ... Dad calls me a "free spirit". We'll leave it at that.

I've never killed someone, always managed to get the demon out any other way, but it happened to Dad once. He's never forgiven himself.

No. I don't.

But that's just Morrigan. She's a special exception. Wynne's a mage, and I like her.

The Mages need to be kept under control. Apostates like Morrigan cause all sorts of trouble. It was a Apostate that had poisoned Arl Eamon, Connor's father, and it was that that lead to him being possessed by a demon. No member of the Circle would ever even let the thought pass their mind.

You must be pretty good at what you do.

You're sort of adorable when you're all indignant. Just saying.

And I'm glad you like some mages. My ex-boyfriend is a White Mage - a healer - and his brother and mother are Black Mages. They focus more on combat and elemental spells, but honestly, Soren's a sweetheart and his mother Lulu is like an aunt to me. You'd be hardpressed to find nicer people. Even if my ex is about as smart as rats are clean.

... poisoning people is wrong, mage or no. And I have a photographic memory - er. Do you have photographs where you're from? I can see things once and memorize them. It helps with memorizing incantations.

Oh, you're really adorable. Few other positive adjectives, too.

Soren and Sindre are from my time, but their mother was brought in here like you were. If it would make you more comfortable, I can introduce you, so you can see that they're sweet.

I don't know what to say. I'm not used to this, with the Grey Wardens and Templars and all. If I remained a Templar, I would have eventually taken vows of chastity. And... things... make it pretty difficult for Wardens to... uh...

Let's just pretend we never had this conversation.

Those things that move without wheels or pulleys or horses? No, we didn't. Not really, anyway. The only thing we had close to those were Golems, and I don't think they're quite the same thing.

You could just not say anything? I'm a teenage girl with a crush, just brush it aside. It's not that big of a deal, I'm just forward.

I can do that. Repression is my family's hallmark.

It's like that, yes. A camera is a machine that uses light to preserve images. What do golems do? There's a myth about them in the Hebrew faith, but not the same, I'm assuming.

Oh, well. I.

Nevermind.

Golems are just moving creatures of stone. There was one traveling with us. His--her name--it was Shale. She was a bit smaller than most golems, though. Not that she was happy about it, though.

Do the cameras make the moving pictures, then?

I'm not very experienced in matters with women. Like I said, my lifestyle didn't really accommodate for much time with the fairer of the sexes.

So I don't really know when a woman is interested. I don't really know much about women at all, really.

Maker, I must sound like an idiot.

She found out on the Deep Roads. She used to be a dwarf before they put her soul inside a golem. I don't really know all the details.

We didn't have moving pictures where I came from. I don't know how you don't spend every waking hour in front of it. It seems like it'd be pretty useful, actually.

... I'm not really that fair. You don't sound like an idiot. And um. Yeah, I mean, I'm interested, but I'm also sort of an idiot myself, so really. Don't feel obligated. You're totally free to skip this and move on with your day.

That's cruel, actually. What's wrong with the magic-users where you're from?

You know, most people do spend every waking hour in front of them. Have you seen a film in a proper theater yet?

There was someone back there. Maybe. I don't know. I liked her, but I don't know if she liked me. I don't like people easily. Not like that, I like people just fine. But like-liking isn't something I do very often. The Chantry brought us up to take these things very seriously. Incredibly seriously, actually. And even if I wasn't a blumbering fool around women, I doubt I cold jump into anything as easily as some of my other companions.

It wasn't a mage. I don't know how exactly he did it, but he used this anvil to forge souls into golems. Some of the people that became golems did so of their own accord, but there were many who weren't.

I don't know what a proper theater is, so I guess this means I haven't. Should I take this as an invitation?

Then I accept. Humbly. Is there any sort of required attire? Some sort of ritual to perform? Or can I simply go as-is?

I'm glad. That you're that sort of woman, I mean. Not that I'm handsome. Not that I'm saying I'm not, I just don't get told that all that often.

I don't have a particular type I like more than others yet. There's been some moving pictures that make me laugh, though, and those are nice. So are the ones with fighting, some of them look like images straight out of Ferelden.

If people said what they thought more often, life would be easier. And if you blush in real life, I might tell you more often than you're used to.

I think I know what you're talking about. I can find a movie for us to go see that's like that. So you won't get too homesick.
