This seems quite unusual. Why am I an organic life form?

You must be new. That happens to all of us on the way through the storm, those of us who weren't human before, anyway. I used to be a car.

I'm Che, there's a [website] that explains things in the brightest and most eye-watering way ever.

Such anomalies are impossible. There has to be some sort of explanation. I must wonder if this is the holographic shape my Captain envisioned for me and this is some elaborate hoax.

My designation is the U.S.S Enterprise NCC-1701.

Around here the impossible's actually pretty common. Take a deep breath (you need to do that now, should fall into being automatic soon enough though) and take a look around, check your pockets, you should have ID or something somewhere.

Not sure if this place'll translate your name the same as it did for me: Chevy Impala turned into Che V. Impala

I shall have to see. I am more accustomed to such things being stored in my memory banks.

I didn't even have that much, I just had ... memory for no real reason. I guess. Cars aren't known for remembering things, but I do, did, do. Whichever.

Probably the most confusing part of being people is the balance thing, sometimes I still get that one wrong and trip on the floor.

The United Federation of Planets made sure that my memory banks were fully equipped for use when I was commissioned.

That's good to know. I think. You figure out who you are now?

I think so. I at least know where I am to habitate. Thank you.

You're welcome. You need help with anything, or ladyfriends to hang out with or whatever I'm usually available. If I'm not working, but I write the schedule, since I'm the boss, I can re-arrange days off.

Thank you, again. I shall remember that.

That's something most of our type have wondered, little lady. One moment we're made out of metal or whatever, and the next we're all... human-y.

It's just what this universe does, apparently.

By your statement, I would make the observation that you were not originally an organic life form either?

And you're right about that. I used to be a caboose.

Caboose... a manned rail transport vehicle coupled at the end of a freight train. Often used for as shelter by members of the crew. My memory banks fail as I can not find an image. They do not have... cabooses in my time.

I'm not surprised. In my time, I rarely saw any other cabooses... but if they're all gone, what time do you even come from?

My original commission was in 2245, but I also have odd memories and read outs of being commissioned in 2258.

Early 1984, according to what Control used to say. You're from a good few centuries after my time.

Dr. McCoy. A familiar face, at least. Though I admit to never expecting to view you beyond an image in my crew files.

Fascinating. What're you stepping up from? Hologram? Android? (Well, gynoid, clearly).

To be honest I can't say I ever did envision you as an organic life form.

Mind, I'm not complaining.
