It seems that everyone's in need of a good assistant these days. I'm no exception. Though the one I've got right now is good as good could be, she's been wanting a change of pace for a while, so I'd like to get someone more attuned to the idea of sorting through old texts, spells, enchanted artifacts and possibly working for immortals which are in the business of purveying items of dubious origin to shops and museums that can turn the other cheek.

Succinctly put, we (vampiric pirates) need you (hopefully magically/paranormally experienced assistant) to help us arrange things so we can set up shop in the next few months.

As the aforementioned assistant, I can personally account f'Bill's outstanding character as an employer.

An' his insanity. No need t'forget that.

Aye, that's very nice of you, Sookie. You could also point out that we haven't ever tried to feed off you even once in your what, five months of working for us?

This is true! Shamefully so, for 'fierce vampirates', y'know. Not even once got a fright, save that one time Jack lost his... y'know, I don't even remember what he was lookin' for. Might'a been a lie.

But they're good folk. If you can handle crazy.

Yarr, luv. And it's entirely possible that he was putting you on just to be "helpful" and give you something to do.

Thank you, Miss Stackhouse.

S'a weird definition of 'helpful', but anythin's possible.

Yer welcome, Mr. Turner.

Would you be needing someone full-time, or just part time?

Full time, since I'd been wanting the business off the ground three months ago.

I've got a set of minor obligations that go with the job description.
- You must be unafraid of possessed objects because as near as I figure, they're not incredibly violent, they're just a pain in the ass.
- You can assume that Jack's things are only there for decoration and as messy as it may look, you don't necessarily have to reorganize things. If you do, he must be there in the room, paying attention. This is harder than it sounds.
- You're absolutely not afraid of voodoo, arcane magic, or any other supposedly 'left hand' paths.
- Most importantly, you have a mind of your own and don't mind arguing your point to your boss because the boss isn't always right.

Hm, well I suppose I could get my hours at the library turned over to weekends and the occasional evening. I need that job, you see, and not the money, the actual job. I'd hate to abandon the books to someone else.

But let's see:
I'm only honestly afraid of a very few things, though I am healthily wary of a few others.
Jack, I presume, is the other pirate? I'm quite good at ignoring things, provided the things I'm supposed to be ignoring are pointed out to me.
Voodoo et al aren't on the list of things I'm afraid of, though I'll admit this is mostly because I haven't run across a lot of it. Though there are some who would call what I can do arcane magic. I've heard them.
I've always had my own mind, ever since I learned to read, really, and I write my own endings.

I completely understand how you feel.

Jack's the other one, yes. I'm Bill. Pleased to meet you, so to speak.

That sounds particularly good. I'll be having a small dry run of other applicants on Wednesday, see which one best suits our level of oddity and amusement, and come Thursday, I'll be keeping only one of you. Every single one of the applicants will be paid for their time spent, regardless of if they get the job.

Sound proper to you?

I'm Meggie, Meggie Folchart, and it's a pleasure to meet you as well, Bill.

Sounds like the only really fair way to do things, give everyone a fighting chance that way.

Well, please show up at [address] on Wednesday, bright and early. We'll be starting around noon, with snacks and luncheon.

It'll be a pleasure to meet you in person, Miss Folchart.

Bright and early was dawn when I was growing up, and for the library it's ten. What is it so far as you're concerned?

Once I know that I'll be there with bells on. Metaphorically, of course.

Nine. We'll be going through paperwork, the boring parts of actual business, getting to know everyone, whatever it is that legitimate businessfolk do. Break for lunch, then starting in on introduction to the whole mess.
