Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger.
When: Monday evening sometime.
Where: Hermione's flat.
What: A surprise visit from Ron :D.
Rating: PG-13 -- simply because Ron has a potty mouth.
Status: Complete.

Hermione's day had been quiet, well planned out. She had systematically checked off everythign on her list. And for the second time in less than a week Hermione had managed to finish up what she had wanted done before she went home. She really was making head way on her projects at work and it brought her such happiness. Soon there would be more rights for all creatures. It was everything she had ever dreamed of!  Having any free time was a rare opportunity. If truth be told she was rather enjoying this little development. It gave her all the time in the world to relax in her home and keep an eye on Crookshanks. She had yet to get to the bottom of that mystery! But she was working on it.

Nestled into a large chair, her copy of Hogwarts: A History was splayed out onto her lap. One hand absently flipped the pages while the other hand gently stroked Crookshanks head.  It was nights like these that Hermione truly enjoyed. It gave her every chance to unwind. The stress of the day was gone and Hermione was able to concentrate on something that wasn't work related. She loved those moments. Reaching out she grabbed her cup of tea, slowly bringing it to her lips so that she could take a drink.

Nothing could be more perfect tonight. Well, maybe one thing.

Her skin was unbelievably soft. Ron felt his hand be tugged out of his pocket, felt Hermione's smooth fingers lace through his for just a minute before they slipped away. He thought about grabbing her, forcing her to stay close, but he shook his head visibly and placed his hand back into the pocket of his jeans. He stared at her for a moment, kind of sadly. Maybe it was just as hard for her as it was for him to think about those times. Maybe not.

"Huh. Granger, are you bloody mad? You want to read a book?" Ron was incredulous at first, but then -- "Okay, yeah. Let's do that." As boring as it would be, it would give Ron something to think about other than being in a bed with Hermione. If he was focusing on that stupid awful book, he probably wouldn't get himself into an incredibly awkward situation involving the shifting material of his pants.

This whole thing was mortifying, really. Ron almost wished he'd owled Harry for advice first. But then, Harry might have brought up Ginny, and that wouldn't have helped at all.

Shaking a finger at him she pretended to be upset. "Language, Ronald." Yes, even after all these years she would reprimand him for his foul mouth. She would have even continued to tell him about watching his mouth had he not actually agreed to it.

"I really wasn't expecting you to agree to that. You can't honestly want to read a book together! There must be something else you want to do!" She really wasn't herself tonight. Ron Weasley actually wanted to read a book and Hermione was offering to do something else. Reaching forward again she placed a hand onto his forehead. "Are you ill? What have you done with Ron?"

Hermione was sure Ginny was going to have a field day with this. IF she ever found out. Oh. Hermione would just never tell her. That was all. Simple.

Ron briefly wondered if someone was playing a very cruel joke on him with the use of Polyjuice potion. "Rally? Are YOU alright? You don't want to read the book? It was your idea after all..." Ron was going to push Hermione's hand away from his forehead; it always reminded him of his mother when she did that, but he paused. On second thought, maybe that would be useful tonight.

"Wh-what else is there to do?" Ron silently cursed himself for stuttering again, but he had caught a peek of Hermione's bed through a crack in her bedroom door.

"Maybe we should just go to sleep. Very tired, have to get up early you know..." His voice trailed off as he tried to avoid looking at her bedroom again. Bollocks! Now she was going to think he was trying to lure her off to bed, playing the 'oh I'm so sleepy' routine or something.

"Of course it was my idea! I just never thought you'd actually like that idea." Letting her hand drop down she placed it on her hip. "I'll gladly read the book with you. But knowing you you would be asleep within the first thirty seconds!" And she wanted to keep him up. At least a little bit longer. She wanted to savor this.

"We could always play a game. Or sleep." She really had to stop thinking about herself and think about him. Of course he would want to sleep now. He had a long day ahead of him tomorrow. "You're probably right about sleeping. It's getting later and I'd hate to be the reason you're all worn out tomorrow." She smiled. Did Hermione even know that those sorts of things came out of her mouth? She was innocent!

"I just have to get changed and then we can sleep, yeah?"

"Haa, good then. At least I'll get a good night's sleep here." He tried not to think about what else that could mean. "What? A game? What kind of game?" Ron asked suspiciously. He couldn't think of any games Hermione knew how to play that he thought he'd enjoy very much.

Before he had much of a chance to comment on anything else, Hermione had spouted off again. "I'd like you to wear me out," he muttered very quietly, immediately flushing and hoping desperately that she hadn't heard him.

"Oh?" He tried to change the subject again. "What do you sleep in?" Not. Helping. "I'm going to use the loo, okay?" He started in the direction of the bathroom and quickly shut the door behind him. Taking a deep breath, Ron looked at himself in the mirror and was almost surprised that it didn't start talking to him. He always forgot that Hermione had so many Muggle things. He studied his reflection, pulling one last leaf out of his messy hair and tossing it in the garbage pail. He looked fine, he supposed, just like he always did. Spotting a small bottle of mouthwash, Ron quickly rinsed his mouth out, sniffed his armpits to make sure he didn't stink, and took a leak. He washed his hands and then opened the door nervously.

Hermione was waiting for him -- in an old Cannons t-shirt that he had given her before. She loved it simply because it was his, not because of the Cannons. What had made her go and change into this? Well, it seemed fairly obvious at this point. It was probably pretty creepy for her to just be leaning up against the wall, waiting. There was hardly any space between the door and the bathroom, but she still waited there.

As much as Ron had hoped that Hermione had missed what he said she hadn't. What had that meant exactly? The butterflies in her stomach magnified when she saw him again. How could he have this effect over over? "I'm sure you could think of a game. You're actually quite clever when you want to be." Yes, back to a game. It seemed safer at the moment. Although, who could know what might happen? "If not, my bedroom is that way," she said with a gesture off to her left. It was up to him.

Ron stopped dead in his tracks when he saw Hermione leaning against the wall in his old t-shirt. It was a little too much for him to take in at once. Not only was she wearing a Cannons shirt, which was dead sexy in itself, but she was wearing one of his, something he had personally given her. The phrase 'you sure look good in my shirt' had a quite new meaning to Ron in that instant. He was standing there, surely staring, when he suddenly realized that she wasn't wearing any pants. The t-shirt came to her thighs and just .. stopped. Her legs seem to stretch on for miles out from under the orange shirt. He didn't dare speak; he knew his words would be completely inaudible if he actually tried.

Ron felt very out of place. He hadn't expected anything like this and to tell the truth, it almost made him angry. It seemed wrong that they could go from barely speaking to Hermione standing half naked, wearing his old t-shirt. He felt like something wasn't going on and he just wasn't sure what he was missing.

"A game? You want to play a game? I think, well, I think you're already playing games." Ron stared at the floor, unable to concentrate with Hermione standing like that in front of him. "What are you DOING? What are we doing? Maybe we should go to sleep." Ron was sulky and he didn't quite know why. Wasn't this what he wanted? He thought so, but it didn't seem .. right. He pushed passed Hermione and went into her bedroom. He stood at the foot of the bed for a second before yanking his t-shirt up and over his head and throwing it on the floor. Hmph. If she was going to be half-naked, so was he. Ron kicked off his shoes and climbed onto the bed.

"Where's that damn book?" He all but growled.

Hermione felt like she had been punched in the stomach. If truth be told she hadn't really felt like herself, not since she'd touched him. It was an odd sensation. Thinking straight had hardly been on her list of things to do.

"I'm playing a game?" She asked incredulously as she followed him into her bedroom. The irony. "Did you just hear what you said to me out there?! And let me be clear -- before you went to the loo! I heard it Ron. I was standing right there!" She sighed, crossing her arms protectively over her chest. "What are we doing, Ron?" Hermione watched hims silently peel off his shirt. Hmph! Well, that was hardly fair! Okay, maybe fair wasn't the right word. But here he was yelling at her and he did the exact same thing!

Hermione went and leaned against the doorway to her room. "You can stay here and I'll go out and sleep on the couch! I'd hate to upset you again, Ronald! I would hate to play games with you. Let's completely ignore -- Oh!" With a huff she turned around and stalked out into the couch. Not to mention her lovely book was sitting out there! She just was not going to discuss this with him.

She flopped herself down and grabbed her book a little roughly. Flinging it open she began to mutter to herself about Ron and games.

Ron watched Hermione stalk out of the room and wondered what the hell had just happened. He did realize that it was mostly his fault this time but it didn't help that she was so stubborn. Didn't she know how he felt about her? Shouldn't she know by now? He had always kind of assumed that she felt the same way and they were just waiting for the right moment to make something happen. He remembered the way she'd cried out for him frantically the night Bill's wedding was attacked, remembered the way she'd flung herself at him with such passion at Hogwarts five years ago, how Harry had told him she was downright miserable without him towards the end. But ... maybe that was Ron's problem. Maybe he needed to stop living in the past. Maybe all of those things were War things, unrelated now in the time of peace.

On the other hand, what kind of girl invited a bloke to spend the night and then dresses up in his t-shirt? Well, Ron knew what kind of girl, but Hermione wasn't like that and so he was forced to think that maybe she did care about him.

The problem lied with the fact that now he had to make a decision. He could go out there and apologize or he could stay in Hermione's bed, her soft, sweet-smelling bed, and pout.

He opted for pouting.

Hermione was stubborn. And on tha tnight five years ago she had changed that part of her. If only for an instant. She had let her guard down and nearly told him what she had always wanted to say. Even if there hadn't been words she had thrown herself at him. Hermione had kissed Ron. Why hadn't that been enough for him? Maybe she wasn't enough. The thoughts echoed in her head. Hermione knew it was silly and frivilous to think that way. This was not the way a rational and well educated woman thought! Of course she was enough. Hermione was confindent in herself and who she was. And it was those thoughts that propelled her up and towards her room.

Suddenly she reappeared in her doorway, hands waving madly in the air. "I didn't play a game, Ronald! Five years ago there was no game! If anyone in this flat is playing a game it's you!" She took a step forward. "I can't even go out for coffee with someone without you getting all up tight about it! I can't do anything that might entail another bloke because it upsets you! Am I supposed to stay in my flat and talk to no one else!?" Hermione had wanted to say something else.

It was all a little too real for Hermione now. She'd said things that had been bottled up for a little too long. Her whole body seemed to be trembling. How could she have revealed so much to him? But hadn't she been doing that all along? Wanting to steer the conversation back to something that was a little less substantial she began to point at him again.

"And don't get all huffy with me because .. because, look! You have no shirt on!" Lame, Hermione.

Ron was stuck, unsure of how to respond or even if he should. He clearly felt ridiculous, not only because of the comment he had made earlier but because he was laying shirtless on Hermione's bed while she chastised him for being a git. He didn't know what to say. He couldn't very well tell her that yes, she should stay in her flat all alone without talking to anyone else, because he even realized how stupid it sounded. He was laying there trying to figure out what he should say next, or do next, or anything, when she hysterically pointed out his lack of a shirt.

"OH. Does this bother you?!" Ron sat up on the bed, fell forward to his knees, and crawled across the sheets until he reached his shirt. He picked it up and waved it in front of Hermione's face. "Being shirtless, oh, what a terrible awkward thing for you! Maybe I'll just take your route, you know, I'll put my shirt back on but I'll take my pants off! Would you like that better, Hermione?!" Ron yanked his t-shirt back over his head almost violently, messing up his hair even more than in the process. His fingers moved to the button on his jeans, but he was almost positive he wouldn't actually be able to do it. Not like this.

Bad choice Hermione! BAD! She pointed at him again, waving her hand. "Yes! Yes it bothers me, Ronald!" Even though it actually didn't. All it proved to do was cause her to become distracted. It was easier to focus on something little like his lack of shirt rather than her rampent emotions.

And then things took a rapid change. The room seemed to spin in front of her as he yelled and threw his shirt back on. And then he seemed to be removing a different piece of clothing. Without thinking she reached forward, grasping his wrist. How had she gotten so close? She stared straight at him. "You wouldn't dare!" Her eyes maybe had been able to stay on him, but she had to release his wrist.

"And besides this is my flat! I sleep how I want. I sleep how I always sleep! And why is it such an issue for you! If I remember correctly you don't exactly see me as a girl! I'm just one of the boys, Ron! This is not the body of a boy!" She waved wildly at her own body to indicate to him that she was indeed a woman.

"'Course it would bother you," Ron muttered, fingers still touching the button of his jeans. His thumb traced the waistband almost absentmindedly; he wasn't really going to take his trousers off and therefore wasn't thinking about it too carefully. He almost gasped when Hermione grabbed his wrist. His eyes met hers for a moment but then he averted his gaze, shaking out his hand from where she had grabbed him. Whether or not she had meant to, she'd grabbed hard.

Ron watched Hermione's outburst with a building tension. He felt he was merely seconds away from having his own. At her very last sentence, Ron choked back obvious laughter. If only Hermione could see herself, waving frantically and almost screeching. She seemed like she might be really offended. He cocked his head to the side.

"'Mione, you haven't been a boy for a long time to me." Surely she ought to know that at least. He wouldn't have snogged a boy, that's for bloody sure. He started to chuckle again before he remembered he was supposed to be mad.

"Oh! YOU. It's perfectly fine for you to prance about nearly starkers with your little t-shirt and your, your legs! You want to talk about what kind of games I am playing, look at this!" And in a very uncharacteristic move, Ron reached out and placed one hand on the side Hermione's exposed thigh, running it up her skin until he bumped into the t-shirt. Absolutely horrified with himself, he yanked his hand back as if he'd touched fire.

"S'nothing there." He muttered, obviously referring to pants.

Hearing him call her 'Mione had taken some of her fight. It seemed he rarely called her that, much to her dismay. It was a chore to pull her attention back to the arguement at hand. Her mind had started pulling towards other little things instead. Things that Hermione clearly should not have been thinking. What did he want from her? And what was she willing to give? If she were honest with herself that much was obvious.

Finally dragging her attention back to him she tried interrupting him every so often. "It's my flat!" Hermione seemed to repeat again and again. "I'm hardly playing a game when I wear what I always wear!" It would have been very easy for her to continue her rant, berating him as she went along. But then, something that Hermione never had expected happened.

His hand had touched her leg. No he had done more than that. That path he had trailed along her leg seemed to burn, tingle. Hermione was left feeling dizzy from the sensation, small as it was.

All that seemed to hang in the air now was silence. Hermione, it seemed, was finally rendered silent.
