Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger.
When: Monday evening sometime.
Where: Hermione's flat.
What: A surprise visit from Ron :D.
Rating: PG-13 -- simply because Ron has a potty mouth.
Status: Complete.

Hermione's day had been quiet, well planned out. She had systematically checked off everythign on her list. And for the second time in less than a week Hermione had managed to finish up what she had wanted done before she went home. She really was making head way on her projects at work and it brought her such happiness. Soon there would be more rights for all creatures. It was everything she had ever dreamed of!  Having any free time was a rare opportunity. If truth be told she was rather enjoying this little development. It gave her all the time in the world to relax in her home and keep an eye on Crookshanks. She had yet to get to the bottom of that mystery! But she was working on it.

Nestled into a large chair, her copy of Hogwarts: A History was splayed out onto her lap. One hand absently flipped the pages while the other hand gently stroked Crookshanks head.  It was nights like these that Hermione truly enjoyed. It gave her every chance to unwind. The stress of the day was gone and Hermione was able to concentrate on something that wasn't work related. She loved those moments. Reaching out she grabbed her cup of tea, slowly bringing it to her lips so that she could take a drink.

Nothing could be more perfect tonight. Well, maybe one thing.

"Yeah, well. You don't do a good job of showing it." Ron had been so very mad just seconds before, but suddenly he couldn't argue anymore, didn't want to. Hermione's face, just inches away from his own, had made his head start swimming. Maybe this, this was why he didn't visit often. It was hard enough trying to stay in contact with your friends after school, particularly when you might be in love with one of them. It was a terrifying though, and it was terrifying just to be in this room with Hermione alone. He wondered when the hell he'd ever grow up.

"Sry," Ron mumbled almost incoherently in a gruff voice befre holding his hands up in a form of a truce. "D'you got anything to eat?" Eating was definitely the kind of thing that could distract him from this whole awkward conversation, especially since it looked like it was venturing into the realm of feelings. He should have brought a pizza instead of flowers.

Turning her back from him she bit down onto her bottom lip. It always came back to this. There was this never-ending battle between the two. The tension they had between them became overpowering, all encompassing. And yet, Hermione still refused to believe any of it meant anything. They had shared their moment and nothing had happened. It was a fact of life and Hermione just had to keep going.

She turned back around then, smiling slightly. It was a rare occurrence that Ron would apologize. This would be one Hermione would have to remember for later. "So am I." She wasn't about to let him take all the blame. She had pushed him. Just a little. Promise!

Food. It was such a typical Ron reaction to anything. "Mm, I'm sure I have something in the cupboards. You're more than welcome to take a look. I can't promise that there will be anything edible, but it's worth a shot, yeah?" Hermione hadn't been shopping in quite some time. Having been spending so much time at the Ministry it hardly seemed smart to fill up her flat with food that would go completely wasted.

Ron thought about making a snide comment in reference to a certain Slytherin eating all her food, but thankfully thought better of it. It looked like things with Hermione were peaceful for the moment. He really did have a hard time apologizing, especially to Hermione, but it was something he thought he'd better work on if they were ever going to, well, he wasn't sure if they were ever going to go anywhere, to be anything more than just friends. It certainly couldn't hurt.

Ron grinned at Hermione again and set off towards the kitchen with long strides. A few opened cabinets later, he found himself sorely disappointed.

"You really don't have much to eat at all, do you? How d'you survive on this?" He dangled a package of wheat crackers from his fingers as if they were poisonous. "It's probably a good thing you're coming to my house, err, my mum's house for dinner this weekend."

Hermione watched him vanish into her kitchen, relesing a big puff of air. Was she being obvious? Was she not being obvious enough? She had thought that all those years ago Ron would have truly gotten the hint. Maybe he did get the hint and he just didn't want to get the hint!? Why did she have to keep coming back to this thought?! It was repetitive and obnoxious to Hermione.

Turning around she placed her hands onto her hips and sauntered right on over to him. "You know, Ronald, not everyone needs to eat twelve times a day. People also don't need to eat an entire house!" Or an entire three houses full of food!

Without warning Hermione reached out and grabbed the crackers. "I'm actually starving. Thanks for these!" She smiled innocently at him and began to open the package.

"Yeah, but you don't even look like you have enough food in these cabinets to eat three times a day!" He opened the fridge and stared inside at the nearly empty shelves. "You know normal people eat three times a day, right?" To be perfectly honest, Ron had thought Hermione's body looked quite nice at the moment, so maybe there wasn't much of a need for her to be eating anymore. It would still be nice for her to come over to dinner. He liked to tell himself that it was because it would make his mum happy, but even he had a problem believing those lies.

Ron sometimes wondered if Hermione had only kissed him that one time because she had been overcome with passion for the house elves. This was something that made him feel rather unsettled inside, torn between feeling inadequate as an actual man and spouting off as much pro-elf nonsense as he could scrounge up.

"Ah-!" Hermione snatched the crackers from Ron's hands, startling him. "Is that all you're going to eat tonight?" He said suspiciously. He wasn't sure someone could really survive on those disgusting-looking crackers. "You aren't ... meeting someone later for dinner?"

"I eat three times a day!" Sometimes. Some days Hermione just simply forgot. She would get busy and the day would just get away from her! But Ron didn't need to know that. It was always a surprise to Hermione how Ron could eat so much and still remain as slender as he was. Having Auror training had to help, though.

"Why are you asking? Would you like someone to be ocming to dinner?" Her brow raised just as she bit down onto one of the crackers. She waited a moment before really answering him. "I've already told you that I don't have any plans tonight. I was just sitting and reading tonight. Well, until you showed up."

Her hand went out, offering him one of the remaining crackers. "Are you trying to get out of staying with me tonight?" Um, what? She didn't mean it like that!
