Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Hermione Granger and Ronald Weasley.
What: Ron pays Hermione a little visit at the Library.
Where: Library.
When: Evening
Rating: TBD
Status: Incomplete.
Hermione really was in a weird mood. After her conversation with Ginny the other night she couldn't help but let those thoughts and emotions take control. Being in a relationship was something new and completely frightening to her. This was something she could truly fail at. What if she need up not being what Ron had really wanted? Logically she knew that she was more than just Ron. That if she and Ron didn't work out that there was a reason and she would continue on with her life, knowing that at least she tried. It was all such a strange line of thought. She and Ron had hardly been dating a week and she was already contemplating all sorts of things. Things she clearly had no reason to be thinking about.

Nestled back in the farthest corner at her favorite table she closed her journal. She did not need to be looking at that thing. She had come to the library to get things done. She'd been behind in her work and this was a perfect chance for her to get caught up. Ron, once again, had been her source of distraction. The last thing Hermione had wanted to do was fight with him, but it seemed that wasn't the plan for the day. Sighing quietly she rested back in her chair and pulled those out of control locks up into a tight bun. Her hair was frustrating her! Constantly falling into her face and Hermione had enough frustrations.

It was time to get back to work! Taking her quill in hand she began to chew lightly on the end. Her free hand flipped through the book of centaurs, trying to find exactly the thing she was looking for.

Hermione had said it earlier and now she was thinking it all over again. No -- she wasn't worried about Ron thinking about someone else. At least not for the moment. She was most certainly surprised by Ron's boldness. It seemed that most of the things Ron did lately were a surprise. Pleasany surprises. Never in a milliom years had Hermione actually expected Ron to enter a store to buy her any sort of under garment. Not to mention he had actually come to see her in a Library. Perhaps all of these things were reasons why she should have known there was no one else.

There were most certainly times in her life when she hadn't taken a liking to Ron's 'I do what I want' sort of attitude. In fact, it had hardly ever been something she enjoyed. She was, after all, practically always right. But she was allowing herself to get sidetracked by these thoughts.

Hermione lay on the bed and reaching a hand up to fingers over his cheek. She could see the battle in his eyes. She had longed since learned that Ron tended to wear his heart on his sleeve. His emotions were almost always evident in those blues. There was something stopping him and she was almost certain that was her fault. She had made him feel awkward in a situations like this. She had to rectify it. Rolling over onto his side when he lay down next to her she smiled. A hand reached out, resting against his chest. "Will you be staying tonight?" She asked in an innocent voice. It might have been a question, but it was still an offering to him. It was something she hoped he would catch onto.

There used to be a time in Ron's life when he found it quite easy to get mad at Hermione, to huff off in a rage and refuse to speak to her for hours, days, weeks. He frowned slightly, thinking of the last time they had gone ages without speaking. It wasn't recently, no, they still talked every now and then, still saw each other at work. Even though they hadn't been close the way they should have been for the past couple of years, it wasn't anything like .. then. Back when Hermione had gone with Harry and he had stayed behind. He didn't know what to call that whole episode but he did know it was one of the worst times in his life.

Would he stay now? Of course he would. There was practically no need to ask the question. He would stay tonight and every single other night she ever asked. Ron wasn't even sure he could walk away mad anymore. Hadn't he already been weakening, been trying to talk to her when she'd gotten mad this afternoon? Any other time he would have stormed out of the library. He was stubborn; one of his best and one of his worst qualities. Things were different now, or at least he wanted them to be.

"D'you want me to stay?" Ron thought he probably knew the answer, but he still liked to hear her say it. He angled his body towards her further, pressing her chest against her hand.

It was on the tip of her tongue, the very tip, to suggest he get a key from her. She silently wondered how he would react to that. Perhaps it was all too fast. Then why didn't it feel so fast to her? There were things she wanted to say, things she wanted to do, but logically she knew that it was too much. Hermione knew that Ron was hardly ready for the things that felt so natural to her. On the same level she knew that she wasn't ready. She had, after all, just accused him of thinking of other women.

Her hand hand wandered down to the hem of his shirt once more. A deliberately slow drag of her hand was made just at the top of his pants before sliding up under his shirt. "I don't know. You are quite the cover hog," she said with a smirk. Hermione had been teasing and she hoped that Ron would catch on to that. Of course she wanted him to stay. "But strangely, I don't mind too much." Did that answer his question? She hoped so.

Ron felt it, too. He was torn between wanting to treat everything like a normal relationship, taking things slowly and moving at a normal page, to wanting to act as if they'd been together for eleven years. After all, hadn't they? At least in some fashion, where everyone from their parents to their friends to their own subconscious brains knew that they were together. Supposed to be together. Thankfully Hermione tore his mind away from such serious thoughts with just the tips of her fingers. Did she realize how sensitive his skin was right, how crazy she drove him every time her fingers scraped against the small trail of red hair leading below his belt? He sensed, looking at the smirk played out on her lips, that she did. Two could play that game.

"I bet it gets cold without the blanket. Especially wearing something like that. You think you can deal with that tonight?" Ron stretched out his own hand to begin touching, ever so gently, Hermione's chest. His fingers traced the line of the lace on the top of her bra's cup, drew a straight line down her belly and then moved in the same deliberately slow pattern across the top of her knickers.

Ron had better be careful. Hermione was a tough person to beat. She never backed down from a challenge. In fact, a challenge only spurred her on. This little game that Ron was playing with her now was exciting. It was a new spin on all the other more not so nice games that they had shared over the years. Hermione was enjoying this much more.

Goosebumps raised on her skin as he touched her. It was a clear indication of just how much that small touch affected her. But Hermione wasn't going to give in just yet. "Oh, you think I was wearing this to bed tonight?" She asked innocently. "I was actually thinking that I was going to put my long flannel nightgown on." Hermione continued with the innocent, teasing look. She knew full well that she hadn't planned on wearing that at all. "Keeps me nice and warm even when my blankets are taken away." Her fingers continued to make small patterns, slowly moving up and down the length of his torso.

"I don't know what it is about girls always being too cold," Ron started idly, his fingertips swirling around Hermione's belly button, "But I get too hot, yanno?" Ron sat up and stretched, pulling his body away from Hermione's wandering hand. He grasped the hem of his t-shirt and then pulled it up and over his head in one swift motion. He was pretty sure that seeing him without a shirt had less of a effect on Hermione than if the situation were reversed, but nonetheless he thought it was about time he lose some of his clothing too. He kicked off his shoes while he was at it; Hermione would probably yell at him later if he got dirt in her bed.

"You won't be wearing that to bed tonight if I have my say," Ron sounded a hell of a lot more confident than he actually felt. "But you won't be wearing a flannel nightgown either." He paused to appraise Hermione's body again before he covered it with his own. Easing gently down on top of her, he propped himself up so he wasn't put all his weight down, and grinned. "I can keep you warm."

Her stomach was sucked in for a moment as he continued to slowly torture her. She was almost certain that Ron would be quite surprised at just how much a shirtless Ron effected her. Her eyes were fixed on his back, admiring the way his muscles shifted as he took off his shirt. There was a lot to appreciate in looking at a shirtless Ron. "I wish I wasn't always so cold. It's rather annoying," she said thoughtfully. Maybe it had something to do with the little body fat that she had. She needed extra layers!

"Oh? I won't? That does cause a problem. I won't be able to stay warm if I don't." Hermione liked hearing his confidence, even if he didn't actually feel it. Her cheeks flushed when she noticed him turning the tables and staring at her. Instinct caused her to raise her hands up over her chest even though he was on top of her now. "You will? That's awfully tempting," she said with a smile.

"You'll be able to stay warm," Ron assured her, especially if his own body temperature was any indication. Maybe it was just part of being a guy, or maybe it was just part of being Ron, but he always felt as if he was running a few settings higher. Maybe it had nothing to do with his actual body and everything to do with Hermione, especially these days.

Then he noticed the way she moved to try and cover herself, and Ron almost laughed. "You're being shy," he accused, his voice teasing. He certainly had no room to talk, but it was kind of cute nonetheless. It was easier for Ron to act this way when he still had his pants on. He rubbed one of his hands over the curve of her waist, her thigh, and back up to her waist again in a slow pattern. It seemed like his palm nearly covered her entire stomach.

"I suppose we'll just have to test out that theory," she said with a single nod. Her own fingers felt cold against her bare skin, despite how warm she felt her body becoming. Ron truly was a wonderful blanket. Hermione wondered, though, just what might be causing the rise in her temperature. Perhaps Ron was keeping her warm more ways than one.

Hermione pouted. "I am not being shy," she said in a semi-teasing, semi-defensive tone. She was almost certain she looked silly, laying there with a pout, her hair a mess, and in orange lingerie. Her body shifted a bit underneath him, his touch causing more of a reaction this time. "I'm ..I'm simply trying to keep all of me warm!" It was an awful lie.

Ron kissed Hermione's neck and dragged his lips up to her ear. "I can keep you warm," he said again, this time in a lower tone of voice. One hand moved up to cup the side of Hermione's face as he kissed her mouth. His lips moved slowly against hers, his tongue pushing into her mouth to caress hers. Ron's free hand slid down her arm until he found her own, laced his fingers through hers in a strangely intimate move. His bare chest pressed against Hermione's, hopefully warming her up. Her skin was cool to his touch, but that could be fixed. Hell, if she was really cold they could duck underneath the blanket. The thought made him grin into the kiss; it would be like playing fort for grown-ups.

Hermione shivered when he spoke in her ear like that. There was something about his voice that Hermione couldn't resist. She had been about to speak when his lips covered hers. It was certainly one way to make sure Hermione didn't speak. She wondered if that technique would ever work on Ron. Maybe it was something she could use while they were fighting.

Her own tongue slid against his, enjoying the feeling of it. She squeezed his hand when he laced it with hers. There was something about that single moment that caused her heart to squeeze. There was something almost different in this kiss, in this embrace. It was something that she couldn't quite place her finger on. Feeling him grin caused her to pull back slightly. "What's that grin for?" She asked quietly? Ever the curious little witch.

"Oh, just, you know. Thinking. Us. This." He gave her hand another squeeze. "I'm happy." Ron wondered if Hermione would know what that meant. It had been a long time since he was really happy, in fact, he'd never been happy like this before. There was always something. Not enough money, not being good enough, always being second best. He'd had good times before, but most of it felt like someone else's memory. Harry was the one who won the Quidditch games, the one who fought the battles and saved the world. Harry didn't even want it all! That was what really killed Ron sometimes. But lately, the last few days, weeks, Ron had felt the calmest, strangest sort of happiness inside of him, purring like a kitten. He didn't feel like he was missing out on anything anymore.

Hermione had chosen him. He had something that was all his, something he was doing right for a change.

"This is nice." Nice. Well, that was one way to describe how she felt about the entire thing. Her free hand came up, lightly caressing his cheek. She had some sort of inkling of what was really behind his words. Ron had always felt second best. It made her think, for a moment, back on all the times when she knew Ron had felt second best. The particular memory of him leaving back during the war. Leaving he had accused her of choosing one over the other. If only he had known just how badly she had wanted to go after him. If only she had been able to choose him then, but now ..now she could. And she had.

"I'm happy, too. Very," she said just before reaching up to softly kiss him once. "I know earlier I hardly seemed too happy, but I want you to know that I am. This. Us. It makes me happy. I will always choose you, Ron," she said, a reflection on her own personal thoughts from a moment before.
