vickie purges her closet.
at the end of every semester, i like to edit my wardrobe and get rid of the things i no longer/cannot wear. i talked to rizal about this, and she expressed interest, so i thought it wouldn't hurt to do a post here and see if anyone would be interested in my gently worn pieces before i took to ebay/consignment sites! prices run $2 - $45 + shipping. a lot of different brands below, including madewell, marc jacobs, free people, anthropolgie, j.crew, uniqlo, and h&m.
SIZING
i am 5'6", a US 6/8 in most brands featured, and size 28/29 in denim. hourglass shape.
SHIPPING
domestic (USA) only! i use USPS flat rate envelopes or boxes, depending on order size. most should be $6 (normal sized envelope), the most expensive would be $17 (a giant box, if anyone happens to want EVERYTHING). if you live in the nyc area and would be willing to meet up in midtown, i would be more than happy to just meet you with a bag, though! in which case "shipping" would obviously be free.
PRICING
if you'd like to buy more than one item, i am definitely willing to knock the price down! prices computed based on how much i paid/how willing i am to let the item go, all of them are at least 50% of what i paid for them. payments made through paypal. will ship after payment is received.
ETC.
more photos/detail can be provided if anyone is interested. also, i might do another one of these some time in january, in order to clear out my closet at home...
boxy monster graphic top (size M) ✖ $5 COMMENTARY: bought last month. the fit is boxy, but i don't think it makes you look tent-like. if comparing to the model shots in the lookbook, it's big on me, and i think it could work up to size US 12! the fabric is soft, with a little structure. somewhat reminiscent of neoprene? fyi the graphics on both sides are inspired by manga monsters. WORN: once. striped blouse (US 6) ✖ $45 COMMENTARY: bought this a long time ago, and haven't had any luck tracking down a product page. definitely a true size 6. i'm obsessed with this blouse, but it's always been a little too small for me, so it's time to part ways. it's meant to fit with some space from the body. love the buttons, neckline, and the side pockets! the stripes are composed of a lovely, subtle mix of colors that my shitty pics don't capture (will provide closeups if there's interest). could work for so many occasions! WORN: never. feline karma dress (US 8) ✖ $30 COMMENTARY: the print on this dress is just as amazing in person, but it's always fit me kind of weird. i like the pleated skirt, and it fits comfortably around the chest, but the shoulder straps are too loose (i am narrow shouldered), and sometimes slip to the side. hits me about 2" above the knee. also, it has pockets !!! 100% cotton. as seen on new girl. WORN: several times. free love blazer (US 8) ✖ $25 COMMENTARY: bought this when i was trying to inject more prints into my wardrobe, and subsequently avoided it for months because i just want to wear black and grey all day. this is a soft "off duty" blazer (although it can definitely be worn at work too, imo!). the material feels a lot like jersey. as seen on kate beckinsale. WORN: twice. shirt dress with waist tie (size M) ✖ $5 COMMENTARY: this dress is VERY suno to me, and super well made, as all uniqlo stuff is! unfortunately, it's literally the exact opposite of my personal style, so i never wear it. fits fairly true to size...a little roomy, if anything. 100% cotton. WORN: once. textured stripe cap sleeve blouse (US 6) ✖ $2 COMMENTARY: very stretchy/comfy, short in length. there's a bit of raised textures with the grey stripes that you can see in the second photo! haven't worn this recently since i really, really hate how cap sleeves look on me. would be appropriate for work, i think! WORN: several times. mirror floral print pencil skirt (US 8) ✖ $5 COMMENTARY: the print on this skirt is so rich and lovely! it's form-fitting, but the length (hits just above the knee) makes it work appropriate. not very structured, and can get kind of wrinkly as the day goes on, but i've found the wrinkles settle really quickly (even though i've never ironed/steamed it). WORN: several times. skinny jeans (size 29) ✖ $2 COMMENTARY: extremely stretchy (they fit like jeggings!), mid-rise, average inseam. the insane stretch content means that these look fine on me when i stand still, but immediately begin to fall down when i do any amount of walking. fits large, i'd say maybe more like a 30/31. WORN: several times. shrink wrapped striped t-shirt (size S) ✖ $5 COMMENTARY: your basic striped shirt. i quite like this, but found out the striped t i'd been pining for for a year had gone on sale literally the day after i bought it...so this got stuffed in a drawer. it's shrink wrapped, which gives it an interesting wrinkled look (obviously this will come out in the wash if you hate it). the small is form-fitting, but not tight. definitely on the longer side for a t-shirt. WORN: never. striped long sleeve (size 2) ✖ $5 COMMENTARY: stylemint has a weird sizing convention from 1-4, and this is essentially a medium. again, form-fitting but not too tight. scoop neck. WORN: several times. boatneck striped long sleeve (size M) ✖ $2 COMMENTARY: yes, i spent a lot of time this/last year searching for the perfect striped shirt. it's a little hard to tell in the photo, but the stripes on this one are navy and cream. boat neck. form-fitting, not too tight. WORN: several times. pop art dot linen t-shirt (size S) ✖ SOLD COMMENTARY: the print on this one is vibrant, and the linen makes it great for warmer weather. meant to fit away from the body, but not boxy. WORN: several times. colorblock stripe blouse (US 4) ✖ SOLD COMMENTARY: the colors in this one are really loud and vibrant (too loud for me). the material is kind of hard to describe...it has a little structure to it and sort of what i imagine it would feel like it linen met silk. work appropriate! side note: this top is extremely wrinkly right now, since it's been stuffed in the back of my dresser for the better part of a year, but those should steam out very easily! WORN: once. scenic view graphic blouse (size S) ✖ $2 COMMENTARY: this shirt fits loose/flowy. the front with the print is cool and silky (obviously it's actually polyester), and the back is typical soft, white t-shirt fabric. it's cute and doesn't look like your typical f21 fare! WORN: twice. boatneck graphic long sleeve (size XS) ✖ SOLD COMMENTARY: i actually posted here when i first bought this shirt! lovely colors, comfy, and great quality, but i'm not a fan of the way boatneck tops look on me. this top (and the one below) are a smidgen tight on me, so i'd say they fit like a small. WORN: several times. boatneck graphic long sleeve, size XS) ✖ SOLD COMMENTARY: same fit as the one above, just a different print. WORN: several times. floral silk blouse (US 8) ✖ $25 COMMENTARY: i love this floral print, but very rarely wear button-up blouses because i always get minor gaping at the chest, and it bothers me. :"[ but this one is better about it, because there's a solid placket covering the buttons! 100% silk. WORN: once. boyfriend-fit silk blouse (size M) ✖ $25 COMMENTARY: bright hot pink! if you like your silk blouses to fit pretty flowy, this will work for a size 6-8, but if you prefer a closer fit, this is more like a size 10. 100% silk. WORN: several times. boyfriend-fit floral blouse (size S) ✖ $20 COMMENTARY: beautiful floral print, very suitable for fall/winter. this one fits similarly to the one above, but is a bit smaller (since it's a size S). WORN: several times. cashmere angled hem sweater (size S) ✖ $45 COMMENTARY: this sweater can be a bit tricky, because it's thin/sheer enough that i always wear something under it. but it's super soft, warm enough for chilly spring evenings, and the color is gorgeous and bright. as seen on halle berry and alessandra ambrosio. WORN: several times. boxy eyelet top (size XS) ✖ SOLD COMMENTARY: so cute and soft, and in a pretty peach color. this top is pretty loose, so i would say it could fit up to a US 10, if you were smaller-chested! WORN: twice. oversized split hem sweater (size XS/S) ✖ $30 COMMENTARY: this autumnal cream/rust color is so perfect. i love the split hem. but i bought this kind of hoping to wear it as a sweater dress, and it's definitely too short on me for that. WORN: several times. textured v-neck sweater (size S) ✖ SOLD COMMENTARY: the light was dying at this point, but i will take a few clearer pics tomorrow if anyone's interested! this is a warm, thicker knit. green is the dominating color, but there's some cinnamon-colored thread that runs through it, and is really cute! never wear this because i'm not too fond of v-neck sweaters, unfortunately. WORN: twice. ice cream sundae sweater (US 4) ✖ $15 COMMENTARY: i sized down a lot for this one, because i wanted a slimmer fit sweater. this is a thinner knit, and very good for spring! WORN: once. mixed stripe v-neck long cardigan (size M) ✖ $10 COMMENTARY: long cardigan with v-neck and dropped shoulders, fits slightly oversized. WORN: several times. wisteria lattice dress (size S) ✖ $25 COMMENTARY: this dress used to be the crown jewel of my wardrobe. it's stretchy, super comfortable, very flattering, and a safe length for all wind conditions. but it's so bohemian that i don't wear it very often, anymore. :( sidenote: this exposes too much boob for my taste, so i always wear a cami underneath, but smaller-chested girls should be fine without one. the chest portion of the dress is extremely stretchy, so i'd say this could fit up to US 12! 100% cotton. WORN: a lot. sharkbite hem tank dress (size 1) ✖ $5 COMMENTARY: simple, bright coral tank dress. the hem is longer on the sides, shorter in the front and back (but never dangerously short). supposedly this is a small, but it's a little loose on me (and stretchy), so i'd say it could go up to US 10. WORN: several times. graphic rose fit-and-flare dress (size S) ✖ SOLD COMMENTARY: this dress is SO flattering!! perfect neckline, print, and flippy-but-not-poufy skirt. unfortunately, it's also always been too short on me, and every time i wear it, i'm tugging at the skirt and wishing it were longer. would best fit a US 6 or 8, since there's no stretch to this one (hence, not terribly forgiving). shorter, less curvy girls will probably have the most luck wrt length. WORN: twice. chambray songbird dress (US 4) ✖ SOLD COMMENTARY: this was the last size in stock, and it was so cute i had to grab it. unfortunately, it's a true size 4, which meant every time i wore it i could barely move my arms/breathe. very classic shape and material. as seen on katie holmes and anne hathaway. WORN: several times. high-low graphic t-shirt dress, size M) ✖ $5 COMMENTARY: these pictures are awful, but as you can kind of make out, this is a grungey, grey t-shirt dress with a print of a lion roaring on the front. this also has a sharkbite hem -- longer in the sides, shorter in front and back. if you wanted to wear this as a tunic top over pants/leggings, this would work up to size L or XL, because it fits huge. the hem is a little short in the front/back though, if you want to wear it as a dress. WORN: once. |
