Grouse Season
Subject: An Afternoon Hunt
Who: Lord Tobias Hurst
Where: Bailston Abbey, The Hurst's Country Estate
Warnings:None
Open to: Everyone you would like to come along to the hunt, the Hurst family and friends, including friends of the Hurst children.

Hurst glanced back over at the moor, hushing the two dogs at his feet. The beaters and groundsmen had not long gone up, stalking through the heather-covered scrub. It was a fine day for it, one of them had said, touching his cap to Hurst as he'd passed earlier, with the sun behind them and the sky clear. True, the air was crisp, and no doubt it would get dark before he and his guests were tired of the sport, but the kitchens were prepared and ready to receive whatever was brought back to them.

Truth be told, Hurst was looking forwards to the afternoon. With most hunting seasons over and done with now, Grouse and Fox was the only available sport left at Bailston, and soon Rebecca would want to return to London, where the season of masquerades and parties was only just beginning. They needed to find suitable matches for the children, she would say, and they were unlikely to be hiding in the moors and gorse bushes of Devon.

"Fishing? You and your...commoner sports," Nathaniel replied with a snort of laughter, though he didn't mind. It just wasn't his favourite after a nasty run in with it during his youth. Falling into a running river at age 11 and being swept down it for quite a ways, and finally managing to get out only to become sick left bad memories imprinted on one, but Nathaniel had been forced to overcome his fears by his father, who told him that only weak people had fears. It was rivers more so than lakes though, mainly due to the fact that the lake could take one away so quickly, whereas a lake just sort of...sat there. "You do still have the same cook as you've had all these years, right? And that tubby little helper she has? Is she still there? She was always such a dear. So good natured, and her cheeks were always so rosy," he continued, trailing off a bit as a smile spread across his face. "I have many memories with her, oh yes."

"Oh no, I will most definitely win the bet old man, your eyesight must be starting to fade now, you don't stand a chance," Nathaniel replied, taking a jab at the others age just like he did his, he wasn't all that much younger after all.

"I'm quite sure that somewhere I am a father," Nathaniel said crudely, though of course that wasn't in the same way that Tobias was. His didn't count for anything, nor did Nathaniel really give them much thought. He rolled his eyes though slightly at the way the other was speaking. Married by 20? Nathaniel had never shown the desire. He was glad to be unattatched, and he would have gladly stayed that way for a few more years. "But!" he started, dropping the gun away from his face to scowl at the older man. Really, he'd always seen Tobias as a friend more than anything, so he hated when he pulled the God-father card on him. "So what if you can remember the day I was born? I'm just curious as to what you do. And here I thought we shared a special bond." He brought the gun back up to his face now and was glaring more intently with his aim this time. "And here I thought that we were friends."
