Patience Hurst: Will not gossip in ignorance.
Subject: Not to be ignorant.
Who: Patience Hurst
Where: Aubert Estate
Warnings: None
Open to: Christine Aubert, Merek Aubert
Patience was in a restless mood since the party. She had made the acquaintance of so many fine men and had had so many dances that she was no longer sure of Lady Gwendolyn holding a Salon to discuss the French Problem when there where quite the adequate number of young British men interested in perusing her favour, and other foreigners besides Monsieur Laurent.
One of those, Monsieur Aubert, had been mentioned rather frequently since Patience had met him and not always in the most favourable light. He had been a strange and informal creature but still rather charming and Patience was most put out to hear that he had brought with him a blonde, fragile girl. He’d not mentioned a wife and the description hardly fitted the idea of a family member.
If not for Mina’s influence then Patience would have quite happily named the girl a strumpet and gone on her way but gossip about herself had convinced her, as well as her good friend’s council, had convinced her to meet the young woman for herself before dismissing her as a mistress.
Dressed in her finest, with a basket of treats in hand – she could hardly turn up uninvited without a gift – Patience knocked upon the door to the house wondering what lay in store for her inside and if it might not be too late to turn back.
