"Ange?" He asked, offering her his hand for the last step from the coach, not as familiar as he should have been with the name. It was familiar, to be certain, but he could not place it, nor it's owner. Even in Versailles he had been bad with names, especially those who were not in his usual social groups, and especially those young people whom his sister associated with in her own youth. He was far more familiar with the sophists of Greece who had been dead thirty lifetimes than his peers and class-mates.

"I suppose I should be staying close by to you whether I recognise old friends or not. I am meant to be escorting you, Thérèse. I am not a guest in my own right. And I might not even be recognised by those I recognise. I am sure they have more than enough on their minds."

"Oh, Théo." She sighed, looping her arm through his as they prepared to make their way up to the entrance. "You have just as much right to be here as I. You're allowed to socalise. And don't be silly, of course they'll recognise you, darling. You shouldn't let yourself worry. Have confidence, love, and happiness will follow!" She gave him an encouraging smile, straightening his waistcoat for him.

"Angelique, actually, you may not remember her. She was only a tiny thing when you were last at court. She's young, but she's fun, we had many good times at the Petit Trianon. I'm sure you may recognise her on sight, she's such a sweet thing."

"Whether I have the right by birth to be here or not, you are a named and invited guest." He told her, with a faint smile, "Who is sneaking in a... a tradesmen!" His grin widened. "And if they recognise me or not, it's no matter. The more important question is will they want to recognise me? After all, I did not fall on my feet." He sighed though, as she tugged at his clothes, rolling his eyes, "Why are you doing that?"

"Sneaking in a tradesman, I say!" She giggled quietly, still fussing with his coat for a moment, a little preoccupied before she looked back up at him. Then, she reached up to move his hair a little, tilting her hair as she flicked it this way and that. Once she was satisfied, she turned back to face the proper direction and continued walking.

"I'm doing that because I'm making sure you look your best. You look wonderfully fine, of course, but even perfection can be perfected. As for falling onto your feet... Théo, did I? I've lost everything. It's not what you have behind you now, it's who you are."
