Harry and Nell; At the End of the Day
Subject: At the End of the Day
Where: Harry's Town House
Who: Nell Abbot
Warnings: TBA
Open to: Nell Abbot

He was tired, tired down to his bones. It was probably clear from the way he sat on the edge of the bed, head tilted upwards to examine the plaster moulding on the ceiling as he unfastened the Cravat. He folded the length of material once it had been freed, and lay it down on the back of the chair, where a few minutes ago he has carefully arranged his discarded jacket.

He stood, removing his shirt and letting that drop into the chair too, before stretching his shoulders. He'd not been at the Theatre as much as he normally would have been. He'd been escorting the boys, or arranging an escort of others in his employ to make sure the boys got around safely. He was worried, very worried, and he was letting it wear him out. Perhaps that was what Slater wanted; for Harry to worry himself ragged, and then, once he was useless, Slater would just walk in and take over. But Harry wasn't about to let that happen...

"Tired, Nell?" He asked the boy, glancing over his shoulder and smiling slightly, "Been rehearsing hard again, have you?" Harry added, knowing from Will that the majority of the boys, those who hadn't skived off, had spent the day going over lines again and again. He would watch, tomorrow. They were doing very well, even without him breathing down their necks. Harry was, honest to god, surprised and delighted about how well the boys had taken to Shakespeare. It was good to know that the boys talent wasn't limited to their usual shows. Nell had proved himself to be quite the Classical performer.

"Yeah, why not?" Harry said, shifting in the bed to look at Nell, hand having moved from the boy's flesh to rest unmoving on the sheets. "I mean... get you a nice place not far from here.. somewhere comfortable. That is, if you wanted to move out. Or you could just live here... have your own rooms if you wanted..."

"Oh." Nell said, still not sure quite what Harry was offering. It didn't seem like the romantic living situation he had hoped for, more a suggestion of brotherly companionship. "That sounds...nice."

He didn't want to say no to Harry, but the idea of living some sort of celibate existance while Harry married and ignored him did not seem to Nell to be a happy prospect. He'd much rather find some rich, old man who'd be crazy over him, than love Harry from so close it would hurt.

Harry smiled, happy. Nell would stay with him, be his lover, his companion, and save him from madness through a dry, loveless and in escence political marriage. Nell would be his lover, and stay in the town house, and all would be well. It was something he'd thought about, privately, for sometime. Ever since Nell had been coming back to the town house with his pimp, in fact. It was what he'd wanted for a long time, but hadn't allowed himself to voice, or to admit, even to himself on most occassions.

And now he had, and had spoken to Nell, and they were in agreement. Nell would be his, his sweet, beautiful little star.

Although something should have sparked his attention in the little lost way Nell responded. "Good. I mean... I'm glad, Nell. I'd rather you be here than with anyone else. I'd much rather you stay with me."

Nell smiled, he couldn't help it. It was sweet how Harry was so protective over him, he could almost lead himself to believe that Harry felt for him as more than a friend and business interest.
"I'd like that." He said quietly. After all, he could say one thing to Harry and do another. There was probably some man out there just waiting to give Nell a town house of his own.

"I'd like it too." Harry said, hand moving up to stroke the boy's jaw, fingers resting on Nell's chin to hold him still as Harry leaned forward, pressing a kiss to the boy's forehead, and then one against Nell's lips. "I don't want to you leave."

"Don't..." Nell whispered, the last thing he wanted were these fatherly, paternal kisses Harry was always giving him - on the forehead or cheek, ruffling his hair. It simply wasn't fair to touch him and not mean anything by it.

Harry pulled back, frowning, head lilted to one side as much as his position on the bed allowed. "Don't?" He repeated, fingers still stroking the boy's jaw, the growing lust in his eyes melting into sadness and confussion. "Nell, I thought..." He began, sitting up slightly in the bed, free hand moving to stroke the boy's other cheek, cupping his face. "What's wrong, Nell? Aren't you happy?" He asked, heart almost breaking. He had thought everything was settled. Nell had agreed to be his lover, so what was wrong? Had it simply said it to appease his employeer? Was that how he saw Harry? As an employeer, not a lover? Did he think Harry was just taking advantage?

"I...yes, of course I'm happy. I didn't mean to upset you, I just don't..." Nell paused, not sure what he could say that would keep from upsetting Harry. "Please, don't. It's terribly unkind to kiss me, I think I've just grown so wanten from the work I do that I wouldn't want to lead you to do something you didn't want because I was wicked."

He moved slightly away from Harry, pulling the covers around him. "I should sleep in the other room?" He offered.

"Wicked, Nell?" Harry replied. "You're hardly wicked. And don't think that I don't know what I want, little star. I'm old enough to know exactly what I want. And wanton you might be, who says I don't want that?" He replied, tip of his nose touching Nell's. "And you most certainly aren't going to the other room, neither."
