Léon Belmont, Plotting
Subject: Plotting
Where: Bridge Theatre, Lower Pitt Street
Who: Léon Belmont
Warnings: TBA
Open to: Nell Abbot

Léon irritably flicked through the latest dispatches on his lap. He'd been irritable and short-tempered for days, suspicious and he was fed up with it. He didn't know what letters had been read, which had been copied or paraphrased back to the Council. He had toyed with the idea of having all of Elisamarie's correspondences opened and read, but he knew he could not do that. Not without Jacques interference, and that would bring up questions he was uncomfortable about answering.

He was irritated, annoyed, had slept badly for several nights in a row, and saw little he could do to amend the situation while saving his own neck. He needed to relax, to forget everything for the next hour or so, and hope that once calm, a situation would present itself.

The carriage stopped at the far end of Upper Bridge Street, the road sloping downwards towards the river, and Léon bid the driver not to wait. He folded the papers, tucked them into the inside pocket of his jacket, gathered up his hat, and made his way towards the Theatre, nodding to the young man on the door. "Nell is in and expecting me, I hope?" He said, glancing around the small entrance hall and ticket office.

Nell squirmed, bringing his knees up and he made a soft noise in the back of his throat. He had thought Léon was beginning to trust him, to treat him as more than a distraction from work. Obviously he'd been silly to think such a thing, that was how boy's got silly delusions in their heads.

Léon seemed happier now that Nell had stopped questioning him, and pressed another kiss to the boy's throat, fingers pulling down the boy's trousers from his hips and giving himself more room, fingers stroking downwards and slowly easing in...

Afterwards, satisfied, at least physically, his body relaxed into the sheets of Nell's bed, the nagging feeling returned. He did not know what to do, and although some of the stress had now gone, what was left still irritated him. He turned onto his side, fingers moving over Nell's skin. "Is your offer of listening still open?" He asked.

Nell yawned, sticky and tired, too hot to bother with the sheets himself. He turned his head to look at Léon, wondering privately how much time they had left. He hadn't asked how long Léon had booked him for, but it probably didn't matter. Harry was hardly going to kick out the Ambassador, after all. He'd just make excuses if anyone were waiting and add the charges on to the ambassador's next bill.

"Always." He said, with a smile.

The Ambassador nodded, shifting slightly to make himself more comfortable. "There is a woman at the Embassy, sent by the Council. She is meant to be working with me in returning criminals that have escaped to face justice." That was possibly the best way to phrase it, considering Nell's dislike for too much information, and for Léon's own safety.

"But of late, instead of working with me she has..." He paused, searching for the right word, "She has been making herself a nuisance. Looking through my personal papers, my accounts. She has been threatening to send details back to the Commitee." He paused, looking away from Nell to where his fingers idly drew shapes on the boy's flesh. "I have friends on the Commitee, but they would not risk their own necks to save mine, if the evidence against me was strong enough."

Nell listened quietly, waiting for Léon to finish before he said anything, wanting to be sure he understood. Often he found himself a little lost in the Ambassador's world of politics and business deals, and he didn't want to seem ill-educated although he often suspected that Léon liked that about him, that was simply in comparison.

"Evidence?" He said, "What do you mean evidence? What have you done wrong?"

"Her testimonial. The letters she has read, the accounts she has seen. She is putting her nose where it does not belong." He explains, looking back to Nell. "Not strong evidence, perhaps, by your English standards, but in Paris, such proof is enough to condemn me. I need..." He paused, not wanting to upset Nell, or upset Nell's idea of him. "I need to ensure that she can not testify against me."

Nell sat up, running a head through his hair. Now this he was used to, he certainly didn't like it but Harry had done a bit of this on the side, getting rid of people who shouldn't be talking.
"I...I think I could help you." He said after a pause. "Or at least Harry could."

Léon pushed himself up on his elbows, looking at the young man. "Harry Fisher?" he asked, considering the idea. He didn't want to have to involve the English if he could possibly help it, or involve more people than he had already, the more he did, the more dangerous it became.

On the other hand, Nell's suggestion could be the very answer he was looking for. "How could he help?"

Nell leant on one hand, looking at Léon for a while. He would certainly not be in the position to get them into trouble.

"Harry sometimes deals with problems. I don't ask any questions about it. Just one day the problem is there and then it's not."

"I see." He pauses, considering the idea. Harry Fisher was a dangerous man, but useful, very useful. "I think I will have to speak to him on the matter."

Nell nodded, rolling onto his back so he didn't have to look at Léon.
"I'll ask him for you, if you'd like, arrange a meeting next time you come here."

He didn't like to think about what he was talking about here - threats at the least, murder at the most - and he certainly did not want to think about he himself being party to it.

"If you would, Nell." Léon said, sitting up properly, taking the boy's movements to mean that their short time together was running out.

"You are a very smart and helpful boy. You always manage to help me think more clearly. What would I do without you?" He said, smiling as he reaches for his shirt.

"Are you leaving?" Nell asked, brow furrowing. "Do you have somewhere you have to be?" He pulled the sheets up around himself, frowning.

"I could always fetch Harry for you now, if you like."

"Now?" Sooner rather than later would be best, of course. Even now, Elisamarie might be writing to the Council, or even going through his papers again. "Now would be best." He said to Nell, fingers brushing of the boy's jaw. "Thank you, little one." He said, smiling.

Nell smiled back, blushing a little. He liked it when Léon complimented him, even if it was only to say thank you. He took the man's shirt, slipping it over his thin frame and wrapping it around his body. It was long on him, the man much larger and taller than Nell would ever grow to be.

"I'll only be a moment." He said, smiling.

He pushed the door open, stepping out into the hallway and made his way to Harry's office, knocking lightly.

Harry looked up from the papers, plans, accounts, and the re-written work of Shakespeare he planned to give to the boys to learn. He raised his eyebrow as Nell entered, mostly at the boy's attire. "What's wrong, Nell?" He asked, setting down his pen and giving Nell his full attention. "Has the Ambassador left without his clothes?"

"No," Nell said, smiling a little at that. "I have something to ask you, Harry, on his behalf. He's waiting in my room."

He took a few more steps into the room, wrapping his arms around himself.
"The Ambassador is having a problem he needs taken care of, the way you take care of people sometimes. He wanted to know if you'd speak to him about it."

Harry smiled slightly, "So that's why you've escaped with his shirt." He paused a moment, marking his page in the accounts page by carefully folding down a corner, and then he got to his feet. "He didn't go into details with you?" He asks the boy, hand moving over Nell's shoulders, resting there.

Nell shook his head.
"No, Harry. You know I don't like to ask. He just said he needed help and I knew where to find it, that was all."

"You know how to put your hands on anything though, don't you Nell?" Harry said, teasing the boy a little more than usual. "You go and give the Ambassador his shirt, and I'll be in there in just a moment. You don't mind if we talk in your room, do you?"

"Well, we've all got contacts round here, don't we? And I don't mind if you talk in my room, Harry, probably best place for it." Nell said, smirking. He opened the door, slipping out into the hallway and ran back to his room quickly, slipping off the ambassador's shirt as he opened the door.

"Harry's coming in a moment" He said, throwing the shirt at Léon and reaching for his own left discarded on the bed. It didn't bother with trousers, Harry had seen it all before many times.

Léon caught the shirt, already mostly dressed but having had to wait for the garments return. He was fastening it up when there was a knock at the door, and Mr Fisher stepped into the room.

"Ah, Mr Fisher. I am sorry to have bothered you at such short notice, but Nell informed me that you would be the best man to ask for assistance. I assume Nell has told you that I am having problems with... a particuluar member of my staff getting..." He paused, and frowned, "I believe the term is tall for their shoes?"

"Big for their boots, Ambassador." Harry couldn't help pointing out as he pulled the chair from in front of Nell's dressing table, and sat down on it. "This servant of yours been sticking their nose where it doesn't belong, I'll assume? Knows too much?" Harry asked, and when Léon nodded, he continued. "Shouldn't be very difficult to solve your little problem then. With discretion, of course. Some sort of illness which might unfortunately leave the people in question unable to testify against you?"

Léon frowned. He disliked being corrected, and even more so by a man like Harry Fisher, who, the Frenchmen was almost certain, enjoyed corrected his English.

"That is... what I require." He answered after a moment of rethinking the pimp's words. "But I need you to ensure that they are dispatched, and done so quickly and without suspicion falling on me or anyone else in the Embassy. A flu, or something similar." He suggested. He did not want the woman obviously murdered, stabbed or strangled. Part of him said that Harry Fisher was too much of a professional to make that sort of blunder, while another part of Léon warned that this man was a thug, a beast, and would have to be watched to ensure he did not make mistakes.

Poison then. Easy enough, if the Ambassador had the money to pay for it, and Harry was certain the man did. Or rather, Harry was certain that if Léon didn't have the money himself, the French state would unwittingly be paying. "Very well, Mr Belmont, I think I have the very thing in mind. It will, of course, take some time to arrange. A week at most, I promise you." He said, leaning backwards, satisfied with the transaction so far. "Unless, of course, you need it before?" He asked, the hint clear.

Léon frowned, not liking the implications in Harry's words. You want the job done quick, you pay more. Of course it needed to be done as soon as possible. In the next few days, to prevent her writing to the Committee, to prevent anyone discovering...

"Very well, Monsieur Fisher. I require the job seen to before the end of the week." He said, getting to his feet. "I shall return here tomorrow afternoon, I hope matters can be arranged by then. You will get half of the money you request then, and half when the matter has been seen to."
