He shot her a grin. This was what he liked about her. She was always up for a good time and had pulled him out of his shell. "I agree. Hopefully we can find something to liven the place up without ruining the negotiations. I'd suggest getting drunk and dancing on the tables but that would probably not be a good idea."

Sulu couldn't imagine himself doing such a thing but the idea amused him. "So what do you think? I know Starfleet functions can be a little stuff. Hope this one hasn't been too bad so far."

"It's not that different from some of the quidditch events we had at home," she admitted. "They're not always the most exciting things, but it's part of the job and having good food and good drinks helps." She'd loaded up her plate with a variety of things she wanted to try and had a large glass of some kind of red drink.

"We'll save the dancing on tables for the lounge," she added before winking at him. It sounded like she was joking, but she actually was determined to make that happen now.

"I would love to see a Quidditch match sometime," he'd been fascinated by her descriptions of it and was curious to see on in person. "I don't know if there's a way to make that happen on the ship but it sounds like it would be fun. I've never flown a broom but I could probably manage it."

Sulu would try just about anything, he had an inherent curiosity about everything and if he said he wanted to try Quidditch, he'd find a way to make that happen. Even if he fell off the broom a couple of times.

"Alicia told me Ginny worked out how to do it on the holodeck, with proper flying brooms and everything," Katie said, grinning, "so you might get that wish. You might even get to play with us."

They'd talked about flying during their first meeting in the lounge and she was sure he'd be brilliant. She wouldn't mind taking him up when they got the chance, though she'd have to talk to Ginny about specifics and what she needed to do to make that particular program work. It'd be a good bit of fun to do.

"That's fantastic! I seem to remembe hearing about that but at the time I didn't really know what it was. I'd love to try it or at the very least watch you play." It sounded incredible to him, not only the idea of the game but of the magic involved as well. Sulu had always been interested in magic and had even toyed with it a little bit but he wasn't a wizard by any means.

"I know that none of the travelers really want to be here forever and I don't blame any of you but I've enjoyed meeting people form other times and other worlds," he said. "I've always liked learning about other places and I'm glad I've gotten the chance to get to know you especially."

"I could probably be talked into taking you for a fly," she offered. She'd heard Ginny figured out a way for Muggles to fly, too, or she could just take him up on her own broom, which luckily had come with her.

It would be fun and she made up her mind to ask Ginny soon about how to make it happen. Somehow, she thought he would really enjoy learning how to do her kind of flying.

"Maybe not forever," she admitted, "but it's cool for now. I'm having a lot of fun here, the people are brilliant, some of them more than others." She grinned, giving him a meaningful sort of look. "I hope it's awhile before I get sent home, at least."

"That would be amazing," he said. "I'm ready whenever you can make that happen." Sulu loved any kind of flying and had tried several different things including hang gliding but a broom would be different and he couldn't wait to give it a try.

He caught her look and his ears grew a little warm. Katie was very attractive and he liked spending time with her. It had been a good while since he'd been this attracted to a woman and he wasn't quite sure what to say to her. "I'm sure everyone wants to go home eventually," he finally said. "but I hope it's a good while before you go anywhere too."

"We'll make it happen," she decided. She'd sort it out with Ginny or whoever else she had to. It'd give her an excuse to go flying and to share her love for quidditch with one of the new friends she'd made here on the ship. As far as she was concerned, that was a double win.

"I'm not in any hurry," she assured him with a grin. "I'm enjoying the adventure and I've got one of my best mates here, quidditch on the holodeck and lots of interesting things to do or see." Her own skin flushed a little under his gaze as he said he hoped it was awhile before she went anywhere. The way he was looking at her, she almost wondered if this was more than just him wanting fun and friendly company at this dinner, but she decided not to question it. Whatever this moment before them was, she thought she was just going to enjoy it.
