Anakin & Tahiri's wedding

SOLO + VEILA WEDDING

RECEPTION LOCATION & DECOR
Holodeck, Enterprise.
The Holodeck has been coded to match the decor and atmosphere of the Outlander Club on the Great Western Sea. Everyone on the ship has been invited to the reception. Food, drink will be provided, all selected from the variety and options available on board to represent cuisine closest to that of Coruscant.

The beach will be open for walking, and there is space for dancing and mingling throughout the evening.

Once the reception was in full swing, he took the opportunity to find Leia standing at the edge of the dancefloor. He passed her a drink and gave her an encouraging smile.

"How are you doing?"

Leia turned, accepted the drink, and smiled at him. "I'm fine." Her standard answer for just about anything, but in this case it was true. "Thank you for conducting the ceremony," she told him. looking at him as she sipped her drink.

The standard answer got an arched eyebrow in response from Christopher and a look that reminded her she could always talk to him later, in case this wasn't the place.

"My pleasure," he said with a smile. "One of the perks of being brass. I'm sure Captain Kirk would have done an excellent job as well. Perhaps I'll make sure he takes the next shipboard wedding."

She couldn't help but smile at his raised eyebrow. She gave him a shrug. "Do you think anyone else might be getting married sometime soon?" she asked. Leia hadn't noticed any other sets of travelers that seemed to be heading along that way, but then again she had been fairly preoccupied with everything going on in her own life. She took another sip of her drink and then reached for his hand. "Dance with me?"

"There's always people wanting to get married on a ship, despite whatever regulations and guidelines might be in place. More so with all the civilians we're carrying," he explained.

By the time she reached for his hand, he knew he had no choice. Not that he minded dancing with the General. He set his drink to the side, hoping it would still be there when he got back and wrapped an arm around her way. Thirty years of diplomacy had turned him into a decent dancer as he started turning her around the floor.

No, Leia wasn't going to give him much of a choice when it came to whether he was going to dance with her or not. She set her own drink down and slid an arm around his shoulder and laced her fingers into his other hand. She smiled up at him. "I have to admit I feel a little like an impostor mother of the groom," she said quietly.

"A variant, not an imposter," Chris said, amending her statement. "I've known Spock in this world and another and they're still the same, though they're different. 'Infinite diversity in infinite combinations' as the Vulcans say. I imagine in some way, he's still your son, even if you didn't meet him in your world."

She pursed her lips. Sure, a variant, if that's what he wanted to call it. "He's the complete opposite of my son," Leia confessed. She turned, glanced over at Anakin and Tahiri dancing, and couldn't help but smile a little herself before looking back up at Chris. "He's who I hoped my son might have been one day."

Chris' hand on her back pulled her just that little bit closer as his fingers squeezed his. "That doesn't make you an imposter. I imagine he sees a lot of his mother in you. Though I imagine it's still bittersweet to be here for you."

Leia didn't talk about her family much, but Christopher knew enough. "Do you want to get out of here? I need to make the rounds a bit, but after that I should be free."

She stepped closer at his urging, and she ducked her head just a little, cheeks lightly flushed. "I'm pretty sure his mother has her life together better than I ever have." Maybe that was unfair; she didn't know enough about her alter-ego's life to know if that was the case or not. But it sure felt like it.

Leia's thumb brushed the back of his neck. "In a little bit," she said. "I should stay here for a while longer but then I can come find you?"

He led his head rest against hers for a brief moment. In another place and time, he'd brush his lips against her forehead, but this was still an event on his ship and he was in his dress uniform. "I refuse to comment on your life - or hers - back home, but you seem to have your shit remarkably together here and have adapted rather well. You and her have had different challenges. There's no point comparing yourself to her - or comparing Ben to Anakin."

The intimate touch made him incline his neck. "You know how to find me when you're ready to go."

She wouldn't have minded a little bit more affection, she realized, especially here, right now. But she understood, probably better than other people did, that this was his ship and not the time or place for it. "I'm trying not to compare myself but I'm finding it difficult."

She nodded. "Give me a few minutes to talk to Anakin and Tahiri and then I can go."

His thumb rubbed in small circles against her hand. "Maybe you just need to get you mind off of it, somehow, General."

He nodded, spinning her in time with the music before pulling her close again. "Take your time. I'll be here."

"And you're very good at helping me take my mind off things, aren't you, admiral?" She smiled widely as he spun her and then pulled her in against him again too. "Good," she said.

"I won't argue with that," Leia said. She slowed their dance and brushed her mouth against his cheek for a brief moment, squeezed his hand.

It was thirty years of diplomacy and Starfleet training that kept his face neutral, despite the fact that her lips on his cheek made his hand tighten on her back and he wanted to pull her away right at this moment. However, he wasn't a horny teenager, but rather a distinguished starfleet officer. Regardless, a small smile graced his lips at her action.

"Keep that up and the cat will be completely out of the bag."

Han and open

Han's open to talking during the reception, he's mostly having a few drinks and trying to enjoy things as best he can. It seems odd seeing Leia with the other man, but at least she's happy...it's more than she got in her own world.

It was either a perfect opportunity or a horrible one to talk to Han after he'd finished dancing with Leia and gotten another whiskey. But Christopher tended to run headfirst into danger. And Han was the father of the groom, so it was only right.

Chris made his way over to the man that he knew more by reputation. "It seems congratulations are in order," he said with an honest smile. "I'm not sure we've formally met. I'm Christopher Pike."

Han nodded his thanks. He knew who this was, he'd seen him with Leia several times. He'd just kept telling himself that it wasn't "his" Leia...and if she was happy, he was going to be happy for her.

"No, I don't think we have. I've seen you a few times, though. It's good to meet you. I'm Captain Han Solo."

"Likewise. I'm afraid I haven't had as much time as I'd like to get to know all the travelers," Chris said, taking a drink. "Have you signed up for the pilot training course here? We can always used skilled pilots."

"Yeah. I'm getting into it. It's a little weird goin' back to school and all, but I learn fast. I'll be glad to get back into a cockpit again." he replied.

Han decided to chance something else. "You're the one I've seen a few times with Leia...I just want to say I'm glad she's found someone to make her happy. She's been through a lot...she deserves it. I wish like kriff that the Leia I know was here, but she isn't...and I feel so bad for this one, the more she tells me. I hope things go well."

"Sadly, I don't think we have anything quite as small or manouverable as what you're used to. Our shuttles don't come close to that," Chris said with with a half smile.

Christopher was surprised by the change in topic. He hadn't wanted to bring it up becasue he hadn't wanted to make things awkward for Han. "Thank you," Chris said, running a hand awkwardly over his hair, somewhat unsure of what to say. "She and I are... well, I hope I can make her happy a bit. She's a hell of a woman. I hope your Leia comes through. I can imagine it's difficult being here without her."

"I'm not overly fond of the smaller ones, really...I'd be glad just to get back on the Falcon he said. She may not be as small as some of the others, but she's a lot faster."

"Yes, she is...both versions are." Han agreed. He couldn't help thinking a bit more of his, though, even though he knew it wasn't the other's fault she had been forced out of office. And his Leia had learned a little from Luke, though she wasn't a Jedi yet. Still, he respected the other Leia, she was very strong. "It just doesn't seem fair that she and that whole timeline went through so much more than we did. Or at least, it didn't end as well." He sighed.

At least it was out there now...and not quite so awkward, he thought.

He sighed, though. "This wedding makes me feel old..." he said. "everyone was still so young when I left home. I'm not sure if you have any kids, but it's all too fast..."
