Welcome to the Deck 5 Lounge

Each Saturday, join the Enterprise crew and your fellow travelers in the Deck Five Lounge to meet new arrivals, catch up with those you haven't seen in a few days, try a new drink, or just enjoy the spectacular view.

Daisy waited as the woman studied the range of bottles behind the bar. It was startling just how many options there were and Daisy was convinced there was even more to choose from since their shore leave on Earth. Actually knowing Lucifer that wasn't that surprising at all.

"Well if you don't want to get too drunk then avoid Romulan Ale, that stuff is lethal and I think it might be illegal, not entirely sure." Daisy had tried it once, she still wasn't sure if she wanted to try it again. "The Risan Mai-Tai isn't too bad or if you want something a little more out there the Klingon Martini but that's an acquired taste I think," she told her, smiling as she took a drink from her glass. "Nice to meet you, Alicia, I'm Daisy. You enjoying life on the Enterprise so far?"

All the names sounded completely mad to her at first, Romulan, it sounded like some Roman noodles got into a fight of some sort and out came Romulan! She was smart enough to keep that to herself for the time being. She didn't want to offend anyone else at the moment.

"A Klingon Martini?" She asked not even sure what that would include. "Straight up or on the rocks? And any clue what it's made of?" She paused. "You know what, I'll try the Risan Mai-Tai first, sounds fruity and a safe welcome to drinking stuff you've never heard of sort of thing." She ordered one quickly before turning her attention back to Daisy.

"Nice to meet you as well, can't complain. It's a little overwhelming. Space wasn't really something we went and explored back home, well, it wasn't something I did. How long have you been here?

Daisy remembered the first time she'd heard some of the names of the drinks. It had left her wondering if maybe she'd had some kind of seizure or if the person talking to her was speaking an alien language. They were still a little weird but she was mostly used to them.

"Yeah, sounds weird, right?" Daisy said, chuckling slightly. "I know it has Klingon bloodwine in it, I didn't dare ask if it was actually blood." She'd felt better off not knowing. "Definitely the safer bet. They're pretty good at suggesting good drinks if you find yourself wanting to try new things." Daisy finished her own drink off before ordering a Risan Mai-Tai for herself, might as well join in the fun.

"Same here, I was overwhelmed at first. I've been here since early February, I was one of the first ones that got pulled through, I think there were about half a dozen here before me and it's been a steady trickle of people since then."

"I am going to ask that question, probably not today, but I am going to ask at some point," she said as she thought about it. "I'm going to working as one of the bartenders here, figured I have a lot to learn." She said with a half shrug. "Not as easy as figuring out the muggle vs. wizarding." One thing Alicia had figured out was that people were from a lot of different places with a lot of different powers.

"It's June now yeah? I still have to tell myself it isn't April still," she said with a small shrug as their drinks arrived. "This whole thing is a bit overwhelming, most have been really friendly, a few not so much, but that's life."

"Got to work up to it?" she asked. "Oh yeah, if you're going to work as one of the bartenders here you'll definitely need to know what's in everything," she said with a chuckle, she nearly choked on air at Alicia's next words. "Did you say muggle? As in Harry Potter and... wait... you're... okay this might just be one of the coolest things that's happened to me since I shared a beer with Captain Kirk." Now she knew how Coulson felt, here she was trying not to fangirl and it wasn't easy.

"Yeah, June," she said, raising her glass as the drinks arrive. "Very overwhelming I agree. And who hasn't been friendly to you here? I think some people are a bit... what's the word, difficult but I can't say anyone has been unfriendly to me at least not that I can recall."

"It appears I've got a lot to learn!" She said with a smile. At Daisy's reaction and the way, she asked if she'd just said muggle a curious expression appeared. "I know Harry, good bloke, could have gone pro, but the whole saving the world bit aims people to other careers... And you know Harry how?"

Alicia nodded, it was a little overwhelming, but she figured she'd be alright. "Haven't a clue what his name is, he's Rectangle Grump," she looked around, but he was blocked by other people and decided not to point him out. "No worries though, not everyone is up for meeting new people."

"I think everyone who shows up here does." Daisy had definitely had a lot to learn when she'd showed up. "I don't know him as such just... okay, this is going to sound weird but there are books. About him and you're in them as well as others who are here and I've read them."

Daisy frowned a little, she had no idea who Alicia meant. "Rectangle Grump? Like grumpy cat but human and rectangular?" She followed Alicia's gaze, trying to figure out who fit that description. "You're right, not everyone likes being social but they're missing out."

"Books?" Alicia asked raising an eyebrow. "Hopefully they're good books, hate to be from a place with bad books." It was clear she was a little bit unsure about the concept of books, but she was the sort to just go with the flow and well, she was pretty sure she'd heard her younger brother bring up Star Trek before as something muggles watched, so, how knew!

"Didn't catch his name, grumpy cat?" She asked. "Think even a grumpy cat would be a better conversationalist," she shrugged all the same. "They're completely missing out!"

"Yeah, books," Daisy said, wondering just how to handle this. "Oh, they're good books." At least Daisy thought they were, she knew some people didn't agree but those people had no taste. "I could say more but I don't think that's a good idea." She didn't want to overwhelm her.

"Oh, of course you don't know grumpy cat," she said, shaking her head. "I don't know though, grumpy cat just tends to sit there and look grumpy." She laughed at the thought of actually having a conversation with grumpy cat. "They are definitely missing out. I've met some very interesting people through being social."

"Books." Alicia repeated. "I don't know if that's as mental as being kidnapped to space, working for a bloke named Lucifer or hearing there are books which I'm in." She shrugged. "Oh, I'll ask loads of questions, course of being curious." Sometimes Alicia thought she'd wake up any minute and rush of to tell Ange and Katie about the messed up dream she had.

"It just sits and looks grumpy? Why?" Oh yeah, Alicia was really unsure about that one. "Guess social, even at get to know people events is complicated for some."

"I think it's probably just as mental as all that other stuff. Life just seems to keep throwing stuff like that at all of us here." It was pretty insane but Daisy was used to insane. "I would say there's nothing wrong with being curious but then there's that expression curiosity killed the cat." This was definitely one of the most bizarre conversations Daisy had found herself in since arriving on the Enterprise.

"Yeah, that's basically all it does. I don't know why but the internet went crazy for it." Memes very rarely made sense but Daisy just accepted them and moved on. "Yeah, I know a few people who struggle with being social but then I don't think they'd go to events designed for people to be social at, not unless they were after something."

"Living life on the edge," Daisy said with a grin of her own. "Yeah, I can imagine that's a lot to absorb." She hadn't meant to just out and say it but at least Alicia seemed to be handling it okay.

"Oh, of course you wouldn't know what the internet is. It's basically a really early version of what our PADDs connect to. I'm sure there's stuff in the database on it if you wanted to read up on it though maybe you're better off not knowing, the internet could be a scary place," Daisy told her before she lifted her glass and took a drink.
