Welcome to the Deck 5 Lounge

Each Saturday, join the Enterprise crew and your fellow travelers in the Deck Five Lounge to meet new arrivals, catch up with those you haven't seen in a few days, try a new drink, or just enjoy the spectacular view.

Her friends in Starfleet had told her that she should get to know the travelers. Jaylah wasn't sure why since they were transient and could disappear as randomly as they appeared. Plus, she wasn't sure how many of them were actually trustworthy. Although the same could be said of some of the crew that she didn't know.

It was good to be back on the Enterprise and since she wasn't on duty tonight, she was taking advantage of the lounge, standing at the bar and pointing to some of the brightly colored bottles.

"I will try that one, that one, that one, and... that one.. You can make them small, but I want to taste to see if they are any good."

"I have not seen these before and I wish to try them," Jaylah answered simply. Friends at the Academy had helped her socialize, but sometimes it was still something of an awkward scenario. So far though, she'd enjoyed some of the drinks and foods she'd sampled on the Yorktown and in San Francisco.

When a blue drink was set in front of her, she took a sip and made a face. "I do not like this one." She pushed it aside and waited for the next one.

"I do not know you. Who are you?"

	"I'm Kitty Pryde. I was one of the travelers, and I'm in training for engineering." She'd offer her hand, but she didn't know if that was a custom for Jaylah or not. Or if not offering was an insult. Different cultures were fun. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	"Kind of. I've helped build fusion reactors and other tech before, and I've always enjoyed gutting computers more than doing the software side of things." The classes had been harder than expected but it was also a kind of challenge for her. Kitty hadn't actually been challenged in school work, ever, and she loved it. "What's that one called?" "You can do that here, yes? With the computers. Sometimes we have to take computers apart to fix them and the wires." Jaylah tended to prefer dealing with the hardware as well. It made more sense to her when she could see what was wrong and not just guess at it. But she was learning how to do both with her coursework.

"Nebulan Knockout. I do not know why." She offered the glass towards Kitty. "You want to try?"

"Uh." Kitty's eyes darted. "It's the name of a drink. Orgasm is a variety of cocktail. An almond-flavored liqueur, a coffee-flavored one, and irish cream. It doesn't really live up to the name to be honest. There's another called Sex on the Beach, the buttery nipple, the climax..."

Kitty sighed the long suffering sigh of someone who'd heard those drink names way too often. Not that she wouldn't crack jokes about them. But right now she was remembering. "And those aren't even the most embarrassing names."

Even before Jaylah had asked, Kitty had known it was coming. All this because of an offhand joke. She hid her reddening face behind a new drink. "The uh, vagina. That humans at least have if you're a woman or like a transman or something. There's like a thousand slang terms for it, ranging from funny to offensive. I couldn't tell you the equivalent for other species."

She couldn't hide, so she just took a long drink. "I'm not going to ask Scotty to share."

It was easier to talk about the drink. "A daiquiri is basically rum, some kind of citrus juice and a sweetner."
