IC/OOC Post - Pike's Ranch Excursion
Who: Open to all
When: 226405.29 (Monday)
Where: Pike's Ranch in the Mojave
What: Horseback riding, hiking, swimming, eating, etc..

All travelers & Enterprise personnel were invited to spend Monday out at Pike's Ranch in the Mojave. Shuttles were provided from San Francisco to the ranch. There's about 10-15 horses at the ranch and Pike would have been leading trail rides most of the day as well as providing info about hiking in the vicinity. (His three favorite horses are named Whiskey, Tango & Foxtrot, but there are multiple horses fit for every level of rider from beginner to advanced) There will be grilled veggies & meats for lunch, courtesy of Captain Kirk and swimming is available at the pool. Leia will be playing hostess because it's what she does.

In the evening, there would be a bonfire where Pike might bust out his guitar and sing. Also, s'mores & stargazing.

"The General and I are friends," Christopher said , giving Lucifer a look that ifrrumors of anything else were going about, he would hold him responsible. He would have to ask Leoa about Lucifer later. "I have a second chance at life. I'm well aware of just how lucky I am and do not intend to take anything foregranted.

Pike still didn't know what he and Leia were and certainly didn't plan on discussing his relationship or whatever it was with people.

"Yes, yes, you were dead now you're alive... that story is old and tired. This is a better story," he mentioned. "Anyway, thanks for letting us all visit your ranch. It's actually quite nice."

"There's no story, Lucifer," Chris said, opening a beer and taking a drink. "Some folks came early to help get things set up."

He smiled at the compliment. "I thought folks could use the chance to get away from the city for a bit. And the ranch could get some use out of it. "

"Your story is getting dreadfully boring again," Lucifer said, but he dropped the subject. "I'm not one for riding but the grounds seem like they're rather expansive?"

"Is that what everything boils down to with you? A good story? There's often more behind the story," Christopher said as he took another shot.

"I've got forty two acres and then it butts up against the nature preserve which is another few hundred acres."

Lucifer let the last comment slide or else they'd get right back into it. Instead he simply said, "Nice. So you have plenty of space to yourself."

That was a concept he'd never entertained, but he saw the appeal. "I mean, obviously there are people on the ranch."

"I grew up here. The ranch was my mother's and I've just kept it going. It's nice to get away from the city sometimes. Better view of the stars out here."

Chris nodded. "there's stsff, yeah, but they're pretty sparse if I'm going out. Makes for a good retreat.

"I can imagine," Lucifer mused. "I mean, the stars are the only thing I've had to look at for months now, so maybe I'm losing my appreciation for them but whichever. I hope the two of you have been enjoying it."

He flashed Pike a smile and then nodded at his empty glass. "Drink's empty. Time for a refill. Don't worry, your secret is safe with me."

Chris chuckled. "Some people don't understand the stars.."

He glanced upwards at the nearly cloudless sky out of habit. "But sometimes home is out there in the black more than anywhere else."

He ignored lucifer's comment about his secret. "Enjoy then. And I hope you stay for the campfire. I hear you can carry a tune rather well."

"What's there to understand? They're pretty, and metaphorical allusions to the divine or the unknown or the countless numbers or any given thing that could definitely be more easily counted than them."

Lucifer shrugged, missing whatever point Pike was trying to make, but he did appreciate the idea of a campfire. "There will be singing at this campfire?" he asked, interested.

"There usually is," Chris said with an easy smile. He still wasn't sure what to do with the devil, but he would give everyone a chance. "Do you sing?"

"I do, though usually at the piano," he mentioned. "But I suppose a campfire will do."

"Well, I don't have a piano here, but I'll probably bring out my guitar.." Chris said, draining the rest of his beer.

Eyes widening as Pike mentioned his guitar, Lucifer stared at the other man. "You're a bloody genius mate, thank you." His voice was sincere, even as he offered no other explanation.

"Right. I was going to refill my drink," he mentioned, and wandered off, as he couldn't very well go shopping right then, as much as he may have wanted to.

Christopher raised an eyebrow as Lucifer wandered off and went to check on the horses again before getting ready for the next ride.
