Jemma & Open

So much had happened back home recently. And then, she'd just ended up here. She'll admit a part of her wondered if AIDA had done something to keep her out of the way. But, she doubted she had the imagination for this. It wouldn't really fit in her algorithms. And, Jemma was about 90% sure that they had all escaped the Framework. She just wished she'd had a chance to see Fitz, and see if he...well, that just didn't bear thinking about really.

Anyway, now she was here. On the freaking Enterprise no less. It could only be better if she was on the TARDIS. And, she was in training to be a science officer. And, would in no time be in an actual official Star Fleet Uniform. Fitz, her Fitz would be so jealous.

Thinking of Fitz, made her need a drink. There was too much to work though, and she needed him here for that. And, she supposed she had promised Lucifer that she would visit the Lounge. So, she slipped into a bar stool, and ordered a gin and tonic. Turning to look out at the bar, after she'd been handed her drink.

Liz took a seat next to Jemma and ordered the same drink. She smiled over at the other woman. "Good taste, kiddo." She was surprised the girl was old enough to drink. Hell, did they card in space?

"My name's Liz," she said, reaching out to shake Jemma's hand. "Thought you looked like you could use some company."

Jemma raised her eyebrows at being called kiddo. That was certainly something that had not happened for quite a few years. She was too close to 30 for that. "It's been my favourite for a few years now."

"Jemma" She smiled, taking Liz's hand. "I generally don't say no. Have you been on board long?"

Liz noticed the eyebrow raise. "Look, I just turned forty something, everyone's a kid to me."

When asked how long she'd been there, Liz squinted, "About two months? I had to give up smoking. Drinkin' is all I got now," she said with a wry chuckle. "What do you do onboard? Or do you have a job just yet? You're new, right?"

"It's still rather patronizing, don't you think?" Jemma replied, having two PhD's at the age of 17, made her a bit sensitive to people patronizing her.

"Well, if you knew just exactly smoking does to your lungs, you'd be grateful. I once autopsied a body with the most horrific...." she tailed off. "Sorry, I'm sure you don't really want to hear all the gory details. I get a bit carried away, sometimes."

"I'm in Science training. First thing I did when I woke up. I wasn't exactly going to miss the opportunity to work on the Enterprise. How about you?"

Liz nodded, "You're right. I didn't mean to, but I won't call you kiddo again. Sorry, Jemma."

Liz could be an asshole, but if you called her on it, she'd straighten up. "I know I know, smoking is terrible--Oh, I work security." That was a better subject to speak about.

"Apology accepted. Thank you." Jemma smiled, showing there were no hard feelings at all. She was usually pretty forgiving. Unless someone hurt Fitz, and then she was all fury.

"That must be very interesting." She grinned. Interested to know all about how life on the Enterprise was treating her fellow passengers. "Have you gotten through all of your training then?"

"Not just yet. But I worked ... a form of security back home, so it's all a refresher. And a little different. Paranormal investigator versus spaceship security is a little different." She grinned back at Jemma, glad she didn't offend her with her 'kiddo' remark. She was sure Jemma was a strong woman.
