WHO: Mary Crawley and Peggy Carter
WHEN: 226405.08
WHERE: Traveler liaison office
SUMMARY: Mary and Peggy are trapped in the closet traveler liaison office during the red alert.
WARNINGS: Probably none

Mary found herself pacing, which she knew wouldn't help anything other than to possibly soothe her anxiety about being trapped in the traveler liaison office for an undetermined amount of time. There was nothing else that she could do anyway with the ship locked down. Thank goodness Peggy was with her. If Mary was by herself, she might have been even more terrified.

She sighed and looked across the room at Peggy. The other woman seemed much more calm, and she was sure that had to do with Peggy's line of work back home. She must have been in stressful situations all the time. This was more than what Mary usually dealt with on a daily basis.

"Do we have any food in here?" Mary wasn't hungry yet, but she wasn't sure how long they would be stuck in here. It was something that needed to be considered.

It hadn't occurred to Peggy to consider the time frame, that Mary's son would be of an age that he would probably, if they shared a world, have fought alongside Peggy. "I'm sorry," she said quietly. "I didn't even think about that. How old is he now?" she askd.

"Three," Mary replied. "It will put him right in the middle of it." And she knew her son would be like his father - wanting to go to war and do his duty for his country. It was the honorable thing, but as a mother it made her a nervous wreck. Mary shook her head slightly. "It is still not for many years." And depending on how long she stayed on the Enterprise, she might never see him again anyway. That thought didn't do much to cheer her up.

Peggy frowned. It was hard to think about things like this, she knew, about what maybes and the what ifs and that. She considered herself thankful that she didn't have that many attachments back home (at least ones that she was concerned about, or missing badly) to worry her here. "I'm sorry," she said softly.

Mary nodded. "Quite alright. We soldier on the best we can." She didn't want to cry here in this office, not over George and not over being stuck in a room.

She clapped her hands together. "Well. Do you think there is any alternative way out of this or do you propose that we wait for an all clear?" Mary preferred being proactive, though she wasn't sure if it was safe outside either.

Yes, Peggy agreed, for they were British and soldiering on in the face of death and destruction and abject horror was exactly what they did best.

"I was planning to wait for the all clear from the crew," Peggy answered. "I'm not sure how else we're meant to get out of here."
