Welcome to the Deck 5 Lounge: Karaoke Night Edition

Lucifer Morningstar and Tony Stark have taken over the lounge to host a night of karaoke, kicked off by a surprisingly strong duet rendition of "Friends in Low Places." Then the floor is opened for anyone who wishes to join in, with the duo warning that if no one else sings, the quality of their song choices will deteriorate quickly throughout the night.

What songs were selected from the catalog of mostly 20th century earth music? (Free Bird was not available.) Who sang? How'd it go? Etc...

After two beers, Caitlin did a moving rendition of My Heart Will Go On.

She then tried Yesterday, but only made it through the first verse, because she's still kind of a mess.

Tony did sing along, but also mainly managed to mimic the dance moves in the popular 'music video' of that era.

Later into the evening, aside from singing the various duets Tony ended up singing, he'd had enough drinks to take on something truly glorious.

Yup. Yup. You guessed it.

He got up onto the stage and sang Taylor Swift's 'Shake It Off'

Mary furrowed her brow at Tony when he came to sit down again after his performance. Everyone had seemed rather amused by it, though she, of course, didn't know the song.

"What does that mean? 'Shake it off'?"

Mary made her way over to him after he sang, giving him a smile. "That was lovely." Though she didn't recognize the song, she could tell that it was old-fashioned, from much closer to her time than the modern era.

When Remus stepped up to sing, he signaled for the music to wait a moment.

"Mr. Moony would like to dedicate the follow song to Misters Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs--Prongs doubly so, since he isn't present--who didn't get to hear this song when it came out. Here's to the days when we felt like we were princes of the universe." With that, he signaled for the music to start.

Remus sang an emotional rendition of Queen's "Princes of the Universe."

Unexpectedly, Lomea gets up at one point and takes the stage. She dedicates her song to "someone" she used to know, and sings a smokey rendition of La Vie En Rose.

She returns to her seat as though she hadn't just bared her soul about something personal.

Tony started flipping through the list of available songs to sing. By then, he was too drunk to be remotely responsible for his actions. He blinked when he saw They're Taking the Hobbits to Isengard.

"That's not a piece of classical music, that's a meme!" He declared. And then, he selected it. And started singing it, doing all the voices. He's not sorry, but whatever's left of the audience probably is.

I have no earthly idea what they actually sang because it's early and I haven't had coffee and I'm really bad at picking these kinds of things, but Rose and Clarke were both there and would have gotten up to sing at least once. Rose's singing is nothing special but she would have hammed it up for the crowd and it was definitely something released between 1995-2010. Clarke actually has a pretty great singing voice and all this music is old classics for her lol. Idk I will think after coffee and maybe will come back with some actual songs.

After not recognizing most of what the others sang and a glass of wine to steady her nerves, Mary got up and did Blue Skies. It seemed to go over pretty well, even if it was quite old-fashioned compared to what the other people sang. Mary knew that she had a pleasant voice.

Later on in the evening, she felt brave enough to go up and do Someone To Watch Over Me. Gershwin was popular in her time and that song seemed to strike her as particularly relevant.

Being a fan of jazz music, Riker sang a rendition of "What A Wonderful World." And he actually was pretty good.

Oliver on the other hand sang a very off key version of "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" by AC/DC.

Seven sang a lovely, perfectly pitched rendition of "Over the Rainbow." Her musical repertoire was limited, and this was the only song in the database she was familiar with that wasn't a duet. Such was the curse of having a hologram with an affinity for musicals shape your musical tastes.

Blake was mainly along to support Yang, and managed to rebuff all attempts to get her to join.

When Yang sang her incredibly sappy romantic song, she wanted to crawl under the table and hide. She instead sat stiff still and blushed furiously through most of it, while her ears telegraphed her range of emotions.
