Welcome to the Yorktown Observatory Restaurant

Instead of the usual social gathering in the Deck Five Lounge, the Enterprise reserves a private room at the Yorktown Observatory Restaurant, which features food and drink from all over the galaxy and was built with all transparent materials, giving off the effect of actually dining directly in outer space.

Loki lifted his chin as she spoke, posture straightening from casual to regal, to prince - no, to King of Asgard. Her words started out reasonable, but the word prove - the implication of it - made him laugh bitterly, tilt his head slightly as he watched her.

“I need not prove myself to you.” The facade is flawless, but inside he’s a roiling mass of anger and hurt, because why should he spend all of his time constantly trying to prove himself to everyone? Why, exactly, was that his fate?

First he had to measure himself against Thor his whole life, the lesser brother to The Great Thor - then he had to prove himself worthy as a son when that was a joke all along -and now he had to prove he wasn’t some kind of monster - (You are a monster, though, you are exactly that, that’s what you’ve always been and that’s all you ever will be.) - to strangers for whom he had little more regard than anyone else aboard this vessel?

No.

No more.

“You may know more of me than I do of you, Lady Natasha,” he started. His tone now danced between a slightly manic mirth and something darker and far more dangerous, the line bleeding together, the dizzying blend of ice and fire in his chest swelling higher. “-but you clearly do not know me as well as you believe that you do. If that is all you came to speak of, we can conclude this conversation here, on a somewhat civil note. Otherwise, please, do continue. This has been going so very well, after all.”

She came to take note of how his posture changed. His tone had become different. She hit a nerve. That much Natasha knew. Only to have her lips curl into a light smirk along the edges of her mouth. "I never said to prove it to me. Did I?" She stated as she came to push her empty glass off tot he side as fingers locked with one another.

"Prove it to yourself." She stated as she kinked a brow slightly. "The only difference between you and I? Is your a magical God. But even Gods have demons inside them." She stated as she came to exhale deeply.

He was defensive. Slowly her hands came to. "I'm here t simply talk Loki. From... one trickster to another." That was the closet thing she could call herself to him. She was a spy. She tricked people into believing her lies. Like a trickster.

"But you're right, I know somethings of you. Or of a version of you and you know nothing of me. Ask, I'm an open book. Or as open as I'll allow myself to be."

"You did. You very specifically said to prove it to you and to the others." Loki's lips curled into a snarl. "Even if you hadn't, I need prove nothing to myself. I am well aware of who and what I am, and what that is - is no business of yours."

He had no desire to wage war upon her or her world - as he had told Stark previously, that was simply not something he was interested in doing. There was no call for it, there was no reason to create misery for anyone who did not deserve it, and these people had never done anything to him, nor to Asgard. They were under Asgard's protection, if anything.

He had nothing to prove, here. He had no demons. He was Loki, King of Asgard, and he merely wanted to return home to where he could do something of worth with that. There, now - there, he had something to prove. He had so much to prove, back in Asgard.

Not here. Not to her. Not to strangers he cared little for.

She started speaking of giving him information, and there was a part of him that was tempted, of course there was - Loki loved nothing more than to understand every detail of a person or subject. It made things easier.

However, he was certain it would be more trouble than it was worth, here and now. For the moment, he had little desire to continue this conversation, whether it provided him with information or not. Right now, he wished simply to be alone.

"No." He pushed himself to his feet, eyes narrowed. "No, I believe we have spoken long enough. I am in no mood to play your game."

Nat smirked as she watched Loki come to a stand as she waved her fingers lightly in his direction. "I'll see you around." She stated before she came to look out to the stars getting lost in her own thoughts.
