CHARACTERS; Rose Hathaway & Rey Skywalker
SETTING; Cardiff, near the housing
WARNINGS; likely language & violence
Rose Hathaway arrives in Cardiff.

Rose was wide awake when her surroundings changed and she found herself being pulled through the rift to Cardiff. Her first instinct was to run, to hide and when that didn't work, her next impulse was to fight. But Rose was no real match for the magic of the Ministry officials who'd greeted her and she quickly found herself at a literal stand still, unable to move. What the fuck had they done to her?

She expected to either be executed on sight or dragged to some jail after that, but instead she was given a really unbelievable explanation, a magic journal, a little money and a place to stay. It was the last thing she'd expected and Rose's head was spinning as she left the apartment just as quickly as she'd found it. She needed more information. She needed to get to know her surroundings. She needed to know for sure that this was truly another world she found herself in. That there wouldn't be guardians descending on her at any moment.

She wanted to believe it. A quick check of the bond between her and Lissa supported the idea. She could send that her best friend was there, alive, but the sense was really faint. Much more so than it had ever been during her time in Russia. She wanted to believe that something had delivered her to a place where she could stop sleeping with one eye open and looking over her shoulder at every turn, but after five years of living life on the run, some habits were hard to break and that kind of hope was hard to really grasp onto. She couldn't trust it.

Not yet.

Not until she had more information.

There was something strange happening here and Rey didn't like it. Everything felt different, there was pain and confusion, and anxiety and while that had been there before, this wasn't the same. She was getting the sense of something outside Cardiff, some other place and possible some other time. It wasn't there all the time, some days it nearly knocked her flat but most days it was just a nagging feeling of something unexplained. Whatever it was, she wantd it to stop.

She had been to the bookstore, a place she'd come to frequent in her time in Cardiff. The owner was friendly, there was always a place to curl up and read and no one bothered her. Rey had never seen so many books in her life and while the stories in them were nothing at all like her world, that was fine. She felt as if she was travelling to places she'd never been and she enjoyed it.

As soon as she rounded the corner, she sensed a new presence and she looked up to see a young woman standing in the street looking around. She didn't look familiar and her Force signature wasn't one that Rey knew. There was definitely a lot of anxiety coming from her and Rey was cautious as she approached her. "Hello," she said. "are you new here? Can I help you find anything?"

Rose jerked toward the sound of the voice, immediately taking a defensive stance. It wasn't the appropriate response to the greeting or the question, but she was constantly on her guard. Had been since she'd been on the run, even more so than what her guardian training had instilled in her.

Something about this place had her more on edge than usual, but Rose chalked it up to the whole freaky situation. Falling through a rift in time and space wasn't exactly a regular occurrence for her and it was setting her even more on edge than usual.

Paranoia mixed with the dark anger that always bubbled below the surface wasn't a great combination.

"I'm fine," she snapped at the girl. She felt a little guilty, but Rose hadn't stayed alive this long by being nice or by trusting random strangers, no matter how kind they seemed.

She wasn't fine, Rey knew that because even if she couldn't sense the young woman's confusion, who would be fine after showing up in c ompletely different world without any warning? She wasn't going to point that out though. "It's a little overhwelming at first," she said. "I remember feeling confused for a day or two." Not the entire truth because she'd felt confused a lot lately.

"Have you gotten the speech from the magical people yet? That you're in a place called Cadiff? It doesn't make much sense but it's all anyone is going to tell you, I'm afraid. You're not alone though, there are several of us who are from other times an places." Not to mention other planets, other galaxies...

Overwhelming as a word for it, but Rose was feeling a lot of things at the moment. She was anxious, paranoid, afraid and maybe a little bit hopeful, but she wasn't ready to give in to the last one just yet.

The not alone part should have been reassuring, but it wasn't, not when Rose had been living her life on the run, doing her best to stay on her own for years now. It was safer for her and for everyone else. "She nodded at the girl's questions, though. "Yeah, I got the spiel," she admitted. Her eyes darted around, taking note of their surroundings, like a cornered animal, ready to take off at a moments notice.

"Are there other guardians here?" she asked. It was a risk, just asking the question, but she was sure this girl wasn't one. She wasn't moroi, either. Human, she thought, but there was more to her.
