Who: Mandy and Ophelia
What: Early morning birthday surprise
Where: Up in a treehouse
When: A little after sunrise
Rating: PG 13
It was quiet and peaceful outside, yet Mandy's eyes fluttered open unexpectedly. Maybe it was because it was so cold. She shivered a little, tugging her sleeping bag snugly under her chin. Despite the chill, this camp out had been a good idea. Yes, they were in the same treehouse where Ophelia and Simon had gotten drunk once, but aside from that the evening wasn't sad or depressing. They'd talked about silly things and watched a dvd on Mandy's laptop before it had died and then talked more over a thick pillar candle that was supposed to act as a campfire. Sometime after midnight Ophelia had fallen asleep, either too exhausted or too sad to keep pretending she was having a good time, Mandy wasn't sure which. She really hoped her girlfriend was happy on this trip.
Rolling onto her side, she looked at the purple haired girl sleeping next to her. A small, fond smile crossed her face. Daring to brave the cold, she reached out and gently stroked a strand of the other girl's thick mane. It was always soft, and curly. The curls were fun to twirl around her fingers.
