Spending time with Mandy away from the school and potential reminders of Simon was good, even if it was only a temporary solution. She enjoyed the dvd and talking about random things, so she tried her best to ignore the sad thoughts that bombarded her head. While she tried, it was only a matter of time before she grew tired and sleep was the best option. Sunday was Mandy's birthday and she needed to be a good girlfriend, doing her best to be happy for her. She had her presents in her bag, and so she wanted to give them to her in the sweetest, most romantic way possible.
Thinking of a way to do that was difficult. Ophelia fell asleep before an idea came to her and she woke up slowly as Mandy touched her hair. She turned towards her and gave her a small smile, moving slightly out of her sleeping bag to lean over Mandy. Brushing her lips across the other girl's forehead, she pressed gentle kisses on her mouth. "Happy birthday," she said softly. Mandy had been so good to her in her time of depression and looked after her when she was a drunken mess. She showed how much she cared and that meant a great deal. "You have presents!" The last sentence she said in a sing-song in the hope to tantalize before she started to kiss the side of Mandy's neck.
She sat up then and moved to find her bag, opening it to find the wrapped presents and handing to Mandy. "Happy birthday!" Ophelia hoped that Mandy would like the necklace with a sword charm, with 'Mandy & Ophelia' engraved on it, and the first season of Buffy on DVD. "I have a birthday cupcake for you too, but the frosting got a little smudged from the container." She couldn't believe her birthday was coming up too and she'd be seventeen. A pointless year. At least Mandy could do something now that she was eighteen.
