Who: Heather and Nathaniel
Where: Heather's office
When: early afternoon
What: Nathaniel pays her a visit to say hello.
It was the end of his first week adjusting to a new place and so far things had gone well, more or less. Nathaniel met a few potential friends, online and off, and he had Starbuck and Kamea too. All things considered, he had nothing to complain about, and hoped that meeting his staff sponser would be a good ending to his week. Finding her office took some work, but he managed it after a short while. The door was open and so all he had to do was knock on it before he entered. For a moment, he hesitated - meeting new people always required an inhalation of calming breath beforehand.
He looked into the room before he could help it and saw the figure of Heather, a dark-haired, toned woman who looked about his age. Appearances could be deceiving as she might be much older than him. Nonetheless, he'd give her all the respect and courtesy he usually gave people, even more so if she was his staff sponser. "Miss Jao - Heather?" he asked. Calling her by her first name made him a little uncomfortable. He had been in medicine where titles were used frequently, after all. Heather seemed friendly over e-mail but that didn't always correspond in person - he thought she would be nice, giving her the benefit of the doubt.
He hoped that he wasn't disturbing her. True, he could always come back later if she was busy because he was paranoid about that sort of thing. "Am I interrupting?" Small talk was not one of his strong points and he had no idea what to talk about with her besides asking her about baking. Nathaniel couldn't forget about that, not when he and Shizuka made plans for a Baking Club. He put a small smile on his face to seem less grumpy - both his mother and Adam were insistent that he scowled unconsciously and it was difficult to forget the talk they gave him. Just too serious all the time... well, he ought to change that.
