Anthony had pictures scattered all over the floor, and he was currently trying to decide which of the three sets of books he'd bought to put them in was actually the one he'd use. All were cute, but probably only one set would win. For now, anyway. If he and Padma kept taking photos like this, then he might need all three within the year, honestly.
While he waited on Padma to arrive with the twins, Anthony thought about going upstairs to check on Kevin's progress on his painting, and perhaps to try one last time to get him to join the organization project. He bit his lip as he considered his options. Just as he was about to get up to ask, there was a knock at the door. Padma must be here. Anthony tossed a look up the staircase and bit back a sigh. It was just as well, really. Kevin would have likely declined to participate. Again.
Standing up, Anthony closed his eyes as he inhaled deeply. He didn't want Padma to see how sad he was about the situation. It wasn't like she needed more problems heaped on her. Unlike Anthony, Padma had taken on the parenting as a single parent, and though Anthony felt like a single parent all too often, Padma was one all the time. It would be completely selfish of him to weight her down with more things to worry about. It wasn't as if Kevin treated the babies badly. He just let Anthony deal with the babies when they were at the flat and tried to stay out of it. If Anthony needed help, he could ask, even though he didn't like to. It seemed as though he was imposing every time he did, so he was doing it now with less frequency. Maybe he was a single parent, too, underneath it all.
He wasn't going to think about it. Not now. Anthony opened the door with a bright grin - one that was actually genuine. All he had to do was look at the babies and he couldn't help himself. Perhaps it wasn't so hard not to talk about it, if he just kept looking over at them as he and Padma worked on their books. "Hi, how are you?" he greeted warmly, taking Sarah from Padma so that her arms weren't quite as full.
