Q. Where/When is the game set? A. The game is set in the present and in a small town in the US. The exact location or name of the town is not mentioned, as although the Therian community are in abundance here, they still keep to themselves and keep what they are secret.
Q. So Therians are Were(wolves)s? A. Therians are NOT weres. A Were is a mythological creature that is cursed and ONLY change when there is a full moon. Therians can change at will or from triggers - however, all Therians go through a forced change during the moon phase. Weres come into being by infection caused by a bite or scratch from another Were. The ability to change to an animal form is encoded into a Therian's DNA.
Q. When is the first change and how is it triggered? A. Therians experience their first change around puberty. So for girls we're talking any time from 8 to 14, and boys, 10 to 16. It can either be triggered simply by reaching puberty or by the moon or by other triggers - the 'fight or flight' affect, is a possible trigger.
Q. How does the change work? A. The very first change and the change caused by the full moon are forced and completely out of the Therian's control. Most experienced Therian will change just before the moon change to save themselves the pain brought on by a forced change. Otherwise, a Therian can change at will or, as mentioned before, triggers occur - such as being backed into a corner.
Q. Is the change painful? A. It depends on the Therian. Forced changes are the most painful and those that don't change often experience more pain. Their bodies are going through an extreme anatomical change, of course it's going to be painful. It may also depend on he size/shape of their animal form.
Q. What animal form can they be? A. Any they want. But please try to have the animal matches some aspect of the character's personality - a shy character wouldn't be a Peacock or a Lion would they? Also, please check which animals are already in use, diversity is what we are going for in this game ;)
Q. Do I have to play a Therian? A. Nope. Not at all. Normal humans are welcome. In fact, they're encouraged. And they can either know about therians (ie. relative or friend of a therian) or be completely oblivious to is all.
Q. Can characters communicate when shifted? A. Shifted characters can communicate with other Therians via a telepathic link. To non-therian characters they will only sound like the animal.
