"Oh wow, I hadn't even thought of that!" Logically she knew that reincarnation had been around for a long time. She didn't know exactly how long, it's not like she'd done any real research on it, but obviously at least for the last one hundred years or so if Raff had been one for that long. And he was the reincarnate of someone who, at the time of his reincarnation, was technically from the future! That was wild. And didn't actually make any sense, but then again, neither did reincarnation.
She wondered how often that happened. Maybe less often these days, since everyone and everything seemed to be stuck in the present. Even the movies that were set in some far off year like 2059 all pretty much look like present day now, or in the case of Blade Runner, still like the eighties only with weird looking flying cars. Because apparently that's the only way people can distinguish the future from the past.
Wow, her life really had taken a weird turn. Here she was, at a party in London of all places, talking to a guy in a band about being a vampire. Totally crazy. Also? It was freezing, but Claire tried to hide her shiver with a shrug in answer to his also very complicated question.
"I don't know... the whole having to drink blood thing seems kind of gross. The rest, though..." Claire trailed off for a moment, unsure if she should say what she was really thinking. She'd never actually said any of it out loud to anyone, and maybe that realization is what pushed her to unload on him. "Caroline is always telling me how great being a vampire is. Don't get me wrong, she doesn't sugar coat it, I know there's a lot of downsides too. But the whole being really strong and immortal thing? It doesn't sound all that bad. And I'd never get the flu again."
Claire fell silent for a moment, biting her lip in thought. "Don't tell Léon." She really did not need to hear that lecture, now or ever.
