Claire had started to feel a little self-conscious about how much she was talking, but Raff said just the right thing to make all of that inner awkwardness immediately disappear. That was nice. It was so easy for Claire to get in her own head about the dumbest stuff, Caroline too. Whether or not it was obvious, they were both deeply insecure at the most inconvenient moments. She didn't think anything of Raff's response, only grateful that it didn't seem to take much for her to feel comfortable around him. Some would call that too trusting, but she wasn't some.
"We already have something in common then," her smile only grew wider as he kept going. "The talking thing, not the dead thing. ... Sorry!" Claire immediately flushed a bright pink. Foot in mouth, Pierroux, foot in mouth. "Er, no offense?" He didn't really seem like the type who got offended easily, but just in case, never hurt to apologize when she said something insensitive, unintentional or not. Something that seemed to happen a lot more often with Caroline in the passenger seat.
Brushing fingers absently through a few blonde strands while he spoke, Claire was caught off guard by the remark about her brother and laughed a little too quickly, which of course instantly made her feel guilty. Little sister loyalty, and all that. Even if it was true that Léon was a total grump, she should probably defend his honor or something, right?
Or maybe not.
"I tell him that all the time, but he never listens," Claire laughed again over her drink as she took another sip, the contents of it nearly gone now. "He means well, he's just... you know, very serious," she added, dropping the volume of her voice to something lower in what was supposed to be a more 'serious tone' but just came off kind of silly.
