Who: Erik von Brandt & OPEN
What: PARTY THREAD. If Erik has to turn thirty, he’s doing it with a bang.
Where: The Capitol Club, Los Angeles, CA
When: Forward dated to Wednesday, November 25; evening
Warnings: Let’s go with ‘expect anything’.

Erik wasn’t a complicated man.

Actually, that was a lie. Erik was a very complicated man, but he did a good job of pretending that he wasn’t. It helped that the superficial layer of rock star out looking for a good time wasn’t completely off base, even if it wasn’t all there was to him. For the night, though, it was the only part that mattered, because Erik had invited anyone who wanted to come to a party at the Capitol Club, and he was hoping that the turnout wouldn’t be disappointing. He was also hoping for at least some nice legs in short skirts, but hey, he’d live if he didn’t get everything he wanted for his birthday. Look, it didn’t hurt to ask, did it? He wasn’t forcing anyone into a miniskirt.

He might have pregamed a little before he’d headed to the club, but it had only been a few beers. Good, strong, German beer, but still just beer. Just enough to get him started before he stuck with whatever selection of beer the club itself might have had. Hey, he didn’t remember what a place had on tap, from visit to visit, especially if he hadn’t made it there in a while. It wasn’t long after the place had opened for the night that he walked in the door, grinning and ready to be the life of the party, as soon as anybody started showing up. His bandmates, of course, were expected to be there, because Erik would give them shit about it for a few months, until he came across something else to give them shit for, if they didn’t show up. You might think that wasn’t much, but Erik was pretty good at being a giant pain in the ass, if he really wanted to be. It was a gift.

Just to get the night kicked off on the right foot, Erik started off by buying a round for all of the early birds that were there with him, and raising his pint glass of dark ale to them all. “To thirty, the year where you’re supposed to magically be a real adult!” He didn’t stick around at the bar long, though. He had people to mingle with, and someone whose drinks he’d already promised to take care of for the night. Erik von Brandt was a man of his word.

"It's a little weird." Shae didn't actually judge Mark for having the blog, despite any appearances to the contrary, she was pretty accepting of her friend in general. Shae just didn't understand that level of dedicated fandom, she guessed. She had interests, mostly occult. Meditating, spirit boards, devil worship...

You know, normal girl stuff.

But she wasn't so into these things that she kept a running blog about them (though maybe she should? Maybe Mark was onto something here and she was just somehow missing it. Hm.), so that was just where she and Mark differed from each other. That was okay. She actually appreciated these strange qualities in her friend, even if she often made fun of him for them, and didn't always quite understand them. If he thought she was fooled by his attempt to cover up that he'd been taking pictures, though, then Mark didn't know her very well at all. That was even more doubtful.

Shae didn't expect him to give up so quickly, but when he actually admitted it, all she did was raise an eyebrow. As if she hadn't already known. Her expression quickly shifted into one of genuine confusion, however, as he kept talking. "... What the Hell dimension is 'Tumblr famous'?"

Mark stared at Shae aghast for a moment, as though the very idea that she didn't know what Tumblr famous was was more insulting to him than anything she'd ever said to him--which was ironic, considering they were constantly teasing each other about their weird qualities Somehow, though, this was far more unacceptable than anything else, including calling his blog weird. He could accept that not everybody understood the allure of REDO, but not even knowing Tumblr famous? He had a lot to educate his friend about.

"It's basically having a lot of people follow your blog so you become kind've like a celebrity. It's not quite Hollywood status celebrity, but it's awesome." He knew the irony of being excited over that. Mark had practically been a celebrity since he was a young boy, but it had never been fame he had earned. It was fame thrust upon him for the mere fact that his father was a politician, and lately because his father was a rather hateful politician. He preferred the Tumblr fame more, as lame as it seemed to some people.

"I tried having a vegan blog once," He shrugged, sounding almost wistful. It had been fun writing about new recipes he was trying and explaining the importance of veganism. He didn't get a lot of visitors to his blog, though, and a good quarter of them were meat-eaters spamming him with pictures of burgers and steaks like it was going to bother him. No, the REDO blog was much better. "It didn't work out. People are weirdly not into vegan stuff."
