Cory probably wasn't the best boyfriend in the world. Actually, he was pretty sure that he'd screwed up more often than he'd gotten it right, but Morgan was patient. Morgan knew how important the work he was doing was to him, and was willing to let dates get interrupted by new information coming in, or something that he had to track down information on before it got covered up. She'd actually ended up heading out the window a time or two to do a little recon, herself. They weren't a normal couple, by any means, and that usually meant that normal couple things got a little neglected. Like dates, which Max and Logan hadn't been so great at, either. They were trying very hard to prove that they weren't their reincarnates, though, and managing to get through a date without getting interrupted by business was the first step in proving that.
Of course, cooking for her probably wasn't the best way to set himself apart from Logan, but Cory also wanted to prove that he could do a better job than peanut butter and crackers when it came to the providing a meal thing. Morgan hadn't complained, but Cory knew that he could do better, He could be more impressive, or at least figure out something that was actually real food. It wasn't fancy, but fancy wasn't a requirement, and even he couldn't mess up roast beef, chunks of potato and carrot, and a salad. The roast, potatoes, and carrots just had to be thrown into the oven for a while, and the salad he could throw together last minute... which is what he was doing five minutes before Morgan was due to arrive, roast already pulled out of the oven and not even overcooked.
He'd left the window open for her, because even though they were dating, Morgan would still rather come in that way than actually knock on the door. Cory was okay with that, even if it meant that sometimes, the time when she actually turned up could be a complete surprise... but this time he was expecting her. He wouldn't be doing anything embarrassing when she came in, this time. Just trying to toss croutons into a salad, nothing to see there.
