Unlike most reincarnates, Sophie Nightingale's life hadn't changed dramatically when she'd become the reincarnate of Rose Tyler last November. If you wanted to get technical, her life had started changing dramatically after the night her mother died when she was young Apparently Rose Tyler was just doomed to grow up absent a parent. For so long it was just her, her sisters and their dad, and Sophie had never had much to complain about in that respect. She missed her mother with the painful ache of a young girl who had to grow up teaching herself how to put on make up. How to wear stockings, how to talk to boys, how to do all the things that girls usually learned first from their mothers before passing on to their younger sisters. But she'd still had the rest of her family to make that easier on her, and she really couldn't have asked for anything more. Ever the strong and inventive one, Sophie had never had a hard time adjusting to the curve balls life threw at you either. So when a mysterious boy appeared and then disappeared in the middle of their backyard when she was ten, Sophie just took it as yet another weird thing that happened to her early on in life.
Other weird things to take into account? Her dad was a pirate, her sisters were both companions of the Doctor same as Sophie, and they'd spent more time on their father's ship than they had in their own house for most of their childhood. It was safe to say that Sophie Nightingale was a hard woman to phase now in her early twenties, and when she'd become the reincarnate of Rose Tyler last November? In a weird way, things just made even more sense to her. It was entirely possible she took the weirdness in her life with an almost worrisome grace and casual air, but then, so did Rose. The two women had been peas in a pod from the very beginning, never accepting things at face value and always craving for that something more. For Rose? That had always been an adventure, and try as Sophie might she couldn't fight that instinct forever.
Especially once she started hanging out with the other reincarnates from the Doctor Who verse. As immature as it probably sounded, the urge to run off and save the planet had become something she couldn't ignore even if she tried. At one point in her life not to long ago she'd thought all her life that she'd wanted to be a journalist, but that just wasn't enough for her now. Interviewing people and writing articles just didn't compare to visiting other worlds, fighting aliens and saving the universe. Nothing did. Yes, it was safe to say that Sophie was becoming more and more like Rose every day. So much that while she was out for a walk on this particular Monday afternoon just a block from her father's house, the minute she heard the familiar whirring sounds of the TARDIS her face broke into a wide grin and she immediately took off running. In no time at all she was racing around the corner and back onto her own street, and upon seeing the familiar sight of the blue police box Sophie shouted. "Lin!"
