Who: Clancy Fitch and Quinn Kho, plus a bunch of angry biker NPCs
Where: Los Angeles, California
When: April 3, 2011, 10 or 11 o'clock
What: If you can't fight a proper war, start a bar brawl?
Rating: Uhhh, PG-13/R, as a guess?

Although he'd never admit it, Clancy had come to depend upon Quinn's willingness to go out and get into trouble. Where the reincarnate war had become a disappointment (and his day job was certainly a disappointment), she was reliable. He knew where he stood with her: Hector hated his guts and she would give him hell as a matter of reflex, but they'd be honest with each other. Always. If you weren't afraid of conflict, there was no real reason to lie.

And, well. They shared a certain outlook on life. If you were going to fight, fight. Enough of this screwing around.

So, Clancy was wearing a smug little grin as he hopped off the MTN and walked the few blocks to the agreed-upon dive. There were plenty of battlefields in a city the size of LA, and Clancy had chosen a location based upon the hardiness of the patrons and general availability of pool cues, which had a similar shape and heft to a spear. He was admittedly excited about the prospect of squaring off against some angry bikers. He hadn't been in a good fight in what, weeks?

The place was dim and busy. Perfect. Clancy would've stood out even if he hadn't been a black button-down in a sea of tee-shirts; at 6'3", he had at least a head on half of the guys in the room. Once there, he went straight for the bar, ordered the beer on tap, and waited. He didn't have to look for Quinn. He'd stand there looking like a sore thumb and she could find him.

"If I weren't one of the ass-kicking parties, I'd have signed up for that." Which went without saying - he was so desperate for a good even match that he'd hopped to the west coast to try and find one. "I can work up some fliers. It's crazy, but it's a better sort of crazy than the shit the 'sides' are trying to pull these days."

A slow, sly smile spread across his face.

"You'd knight me? Well, I did tell you to find a better caliber of defender, can't blame you for picking the best." He took a moment to brush his knuckles across his shoulder in a little ego-burnish. He didn't stop with the preening, though.

"But then you'd be responsible for me. I'd pitch a tent on your lawn. You'd have to feed me. Keep me in line. 'Clancy, heel.'" The sly smile split into a sarcastic grin. Oh, he knew what he was doing. Clancy Fitch knew more 'heel' jokes than anyone else on the planet, in no small part because people kept giving him new material to reuse. "Knights are a lot of work. Are you sure you're ready for that?"

He didn't use Achilles' name in his little joke. It was bad enough that Clancy was joking with Quinn at all. The last of the Greek's temper would've snapped if his host had started to drag him into it.

"You know we're going to end up with a bunch of heavy handed, egotistical idiots or a bunch of psychos, right?" She wasn't saying that was a bad thing, she was just saying that no one else would be insane enough to sign up. At least she wouldn't have to provoke strangers in to taking a swing at her, though. Ah, the little things in life.

She rolled her eyes. The man was so completely full of himself that it was amazing he didn't just pop. "I dunno, sounds like that would suck more for you than me. No AC in a tent, and you never said I had to feed you well..." His joke made her snort out a laugh, even as she added it to her mental rolidex to use against him at some point in the future. Really, he ought to have known better than to give her ammo like that.

"But I guess I can find other knights. Ones that aren't so high maintenance." She fell in beside him again. "And who won't be so fucking snarky. Nothing worse than snarky knights."

"I could test them out for you," Clancy offered, as if he were doing Quinn a huge favor. "Your low-maintenance, polite knights. Who sound boring, by the way. You knight 'em. If they can last more than a few minutes against me, you know they're not a total waste."

Yeah. So maybe his ego needed its own zipcode. Clancy wasn't going to apologize.

"Feel any better?" The concern came from nowhere, and the nonchalant tone of voice helped hide the fact that he was even concerned in the first place. "If the answer's 'no,' there are other bars and the night's young."

"Find your own knights to test out. I won't have you walloping mine." If she could find anyone to knight, she'd be walloping them on her own. It was good practice. "Boring? I suppose I could switch it up. Because a bunch of high maintenance loudmouths camping on my lawn wouldn't drive me to murder..."

She shot him a sidelong glance, only slightly wary that he would even ask. "Yeah." It was true. Even their badly outmatched fight had been enough to take her mind off other things. Like how pissed she was at Camelot's unwillingness to act, and the Resistance's approach to fighting a war in general. There honestly wasn't much about this 'war' that didn't have her frustrated in one way or another. Up to and including the fact that the only people who seemed to agree were from the opposite side.

"But I wouldn't say not another drink. And/or throwdown." She sighed "You know, at this rate, I'm going to become a violent alcoholic."

"A lot of things would drive you to murder," Clancy observed. "...but a lot of things really ought to be punishable by single combat, so I wouldn't judge."

No really. He wouldn't judge. The realization made Clancy lift a hand and scratch at the back of his head. "Work our way east? One in each time zone until it's too late to function." By then they'd be trashed and, if all went well, a little bruised and battered. A good night, all in all.

"I know this place in Phoenix? Frat boys. Beating up some Ed Hardy-wearing asshole would practically be a public service."

"If I could challenge assholes to single combat, you'd be the only asshole left in Miami." That was, oddly enough, a compliment. Kind of. It was a very Quinn-like compliment, the sort that usually meant she'd never get a second date. At least Clancy was used to it by now.

A stop in every time zone was probably going to be really unhealthy, but she couldn't say she was opposed to the idea. "I'm going to have to go to work hungover with a black eye again, aren't I?" Once she got drunk enough, it wasn't nearly as hard for some idiot to land a punch. She didn't mind. It wasn't really a fight if the other guy totally sucked at fighting back.

"Okay, that I approve of." She hated frat guys. They were all ego with none of the balls to back it up. All they did was talk a big game and make spring break unbearable. "Is this some kind of epic quest? Because I feel like this could make the papers tomorrow."

"They'll be writing poems about us in a thousand years," Clancy quipped. "That's the kind of night this is going to be."

Big expectations there, Fitch. "And don't even start about the hangover. I work outdoors. There are whistles involved." He wanted an aspirin just thinking about it. "Outdoors with spoiled children who want victory just handed to them. Well. That's only partially true; there are a handful who'll fight for it. I've got half a mind to ignore the seniors entirely and just work on molding the young ones."

Into proper little soldiers. Poor kids. You're not Hurricanes. You're Myrmidons and you just don't know it yet.

"So. Phoenix first. You can pick the stop after that."

"Too bad 'Of the last drink and the passing out of Quinn' doesn't have the same ring to it." Hector was, in a word, unamused. Poor man, he really should have been used to it by now. "Maybe some creative soul will still be able to write a decent ballad about this."

Not that it would be a very good ballad. Clancy and Quinn didn't have the same hero-y sound as Achilles and Hector. "Whistles and yelling children. Yeah, you're so screwed." It never failed to amuse her that he was a couch. Maybe the next time she was bored she would go heckle him there. "Molding them in to what? Fearsome...sprinters?" She raised a brow. Their priorities were so skewed when compared to their other halves.

"I'll have to think about it. We can beat up some frat boys first." She elbowed him playfully. "Why don't we have more than one drink first? That way it's a little more fair."
