Elena stood in front of the hallway mirror, studying her outfit. She'd gone slightly dressier than normal, her make-up a bit more dramatic since this was a date. The first date she'd ever been on with anyone besides Matt and the first one since her parents... A shake of her head. She wasn't going to think about that. Tonight was a night to be a normal teenage girl. She was going out with the cute new boy. A guy who was a gentleman and smart and had an accent that was to die for and... It was going to be a wonderful night. Except she was way over-dressed, wasn't she.
With a frown, Elena turned, ready to change again, only to stop as the doorbell rang. Too late. She caught Jeremy heading for the door and whirled him around back toward the kitchen. "I've got this." And her eyes left no room for argument.
A deep breath, a quick smoothing of her hair and Elena stepped forward, opening the door. "Nik. Hi," she smiled.
