Pureblood families divided on the topic of blood purity
By Janet Fawley, Editorial
A common dispute that has seen a resurgence during the recent war is that of bloody purity. Pureblood Wizards make up those families that have remained magical for generations without propagating with Muggles. This so-called ‘purism’ is villainized by Muggleborn and Halfblood Wizards who consider this partiality to be bigotry in disguise.
If this were the truth then we certainly would not be seeing prominent Wizarding families polarising on the topic. One well known opposition is that of Sirius Black, who has vehemently stated that purism is “a horrorshow and as a philosophy needs to be scoured from existence”.
His brother, Regulus Black, did not seem to share that same opinion. No one has seen Regulus since December of 2017 and it is largely believed that he is dead -- but how? Seeing as Sirius was so opposed to Regulus’ beliefs on purism, who are we to say that Sirius had no involvement in the disappearance of his brother?
And while the DMLE continues to be tight-lipped about the happenings during the Battle of Godric's Hollow, new information about the event continues to surface daily from bystanders. One such anonymous source spoke with me about another sacred Wizarding family whose infighting could very well lead to even more deaths of innocent Wizards.
Molly Weasley was fingered by our source as a member of the Order of the Phoenix -- the vigilante group known to have wreaked havoc during the War in their attempt ‘to help’ the DMLE bring a stop to You-Know-Who and his Death Eater associates.
Her brother, Fabian Prewett, is known for keeping companions that have openly supported bloody purity. Our source stated that Prewett, also present at the Battle, pleaded with his sister to stop the incessant violence. He stated that Pureblood Wizards are well within their rights to choose only to reproduce with other well-known Wizards.
After all, these ‘purists’ are not attempting to delegate who other Wizards are allowed to marry and raise families with. Certainly we should be looking at both sides of the disagreement and not blatantly painting libel with broad strokes.
