Who: Kenzie Studart|Epona and a white horse|Poseidon|Jeremiah Evans
What: After a hard day of not working, Kenzie hangs around the stable after hours and finds an unexpected guest.
When: very late night Thursday, March 15, 2012
Where: the racetrack
Kenzie was filled with energy. She'd already been anxious with only three races to ride, but it only worsened when her first two mounts were scratched. The win in her third race had helped a little, but not by much. Luckily, one of the benefits of her godly parasite was the fact that no one questioned her being in the stables after hours. She belonged there after all.
She had just checked on her mounts for the next day, giving them words of encouragement and to help with a restful sleep. She pulled her jacket tight around the chill in the air as she walked among the barns. A flash of white to her left caught her attention. She stopped and stared at the magnificent stallion running around the pasture. She just watched for awhile before she looked around. No one else around. And a trainer had to be an idiot to leave their horse out on a night like this. Even with the track's security, you were just begging to get your horse jacked by leaving it out in the city overnight.
She walked across the yard at a quick pace and was over the fence in a practiced, smooth motion. She strode through the grass without a bit of fear or wariness about the large animal gallivanting about. She blew out a sharp whistle to get the horse's attention. "Come on, boy. Time to go in. Big, pretty boy like you shouldn't be out on a night like this," she called out. "What idiot forgot to lock your stall?"
Not that she thought he was one of theirs. She'd remember a horse like him around the stable. Unless he had gotten in tonight, but he would have been the news of the stable with a coat like that.
