Continued from here.
As they drove back from the firm to the house, Wesley looked over at Rupert, not sure if he should say anything without Fred there, considering that it was obvious Regan and he had quite the interesting conversation while they had been out.
"Your daughter is very persuasive when she wants to me," Rupert said, glancing over at him. "And persistent."
"Does she know...?"
Rupert shrugged. "I'm not sure. One of the things she asked about, though, I'm not sure if she did because she does or for another reason."
"What do you mean?"
"We should probably wait until we're home. I think it'll be better if Fred and Regan are there too."
Nodding, Wesley turned his attention back to the road, glancing every once and while into the rearview mirror at his wife's car behind. Finally, they got back to the house and were soon inside, sitting in the lounge. Fred started by asking Regan about what she had asked of Rupert, and Regan's answer...took him rather by surprise. This went beyond moving over to England, and he now understood what Rupert had meant in not being sure about what Regan knew.
Wesley shifted off the couch and knelt down in front of Fred and Regan, resting his hand on his daughter's knee when she said repeated that she wanted them to be a family. "Regan, you know we love Rupert, don't you?" he asked softly.
"Yes. That's why you always miss him when he's gone and call him so much, and why he always comes to see us and help us," she said.
"That's very true." He then looked over Rupert. "Well, I know that if I were to return to England, I'd want us to be together."
"You think I'd let you move back to England and live somewhere else?" Rupert asked with a laugh. "Not bloody likely. The three of you have been my family for a long time now, and I miss you terribly when we're not together. If you're leaving the firm, I want you to come back with me. And...why couldn't we do what Regan suggested? Certainly, it wouldn't be legal in the eyes of the government, but that doesn't matter. You both know I love you. I can't imagine being with anyone else."
Wesley glanced over at Fred with a smile then turned back to Rupert. "Was that a proposal?"
With a snort, Rupert moved from his chair to kneel next to Wesley in front of Wesley and Fred. He took Fred's hand and rested his other one over Wesley's on Regan's knee. "Wesley and Fred, will you two do me the great honor of allowing me into your union as husband to both of you and father to Regan?"
"Yes!" Regan said.
Wesley laughed. "Well, we know what she wants. And my answer is more definitely yes." He looked at Fred, sure what her answer would be but knowing she should voice it herself. "Fred, love?"
