Stop a nuclear bomb? What nuclear bomb? It had only taken Peter an hour in his new apartment for him to realize that he didn't know what to do with himself now that he'd been taken from his world and transported into this one. There were no villains trying to killed his loved ones and no vision of the destruction of New York. For the past few weeks that's all that had been on his mind. Now he was in a new world where people had iGalaxy S5S and Apple Pads or whatever. He felt jet-lagged and out of date. His first day here, Peter made it his mission to explore the city. Some things were the same while others had changed entirely. His apartment now belonged to an elderly woman named Jane. That was different. The citizens were just as disinterested in him as they were before. That was the same. For the rest of the day, Peter wandered around, eating different food and sight-seeing. Wednesday rolled around, and by then he felt like a bit of a slob. He hadn't done much exercising since he'd arrived and he was curious to see if all of his powers still worked. After doing a bit of research on the Tower, he discovered there was a gym in the basement. That was the perfect place to work off all the tacos/pizza/ice cream/soda/beer he'd sucked down in the past three days. Peter cleaned himself up a bit then headed downstairs. He smiled politely at all those he came across. As he passed a few of the guards he felt just a bit out of place. His last apartment had virtually no security. He wondered what all had happened for everyone to feel they needed this much protection. The thought was fleeting, and as he entered the gym, he looked around for his first activity. Free weights seemed easy. As he began curling, he let his mind ease and focused on Matt. The man's ability had been telepathy, and Peter thought this would be the easiest power to test out considering it didn't take much more than silence on his part. For a moment all he heard were the jumbled internal monologues of those around him, all at once in a chaotic mass, but he focused on a single voice and soon the rest fell apart. He bounced from head to head, picking up different facts about each of them. He couldn't help but smile. This power was handy when it came to dangerous situations and he glad to have it with him. As he continued to listen, he heard someone mention the guy curling. He looked around to find that he was the only one. This person was talking about him. He listened more intently, curious to see what they were thinking about. |
