FILTERED TO SHIELD AGENTS (Past & Present):
It is with great regret that we are known as a terrorist organization in the eyes of the public today. All the past Directors of SHIELD have acknowledged that our goals have always been the same: protect those who could not help themselves -- a shield, if you will. Some may disagree with our methods, and we will account for them in Senate hearings. Today marks the beginning of the end for the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division.FILTERED TO ALEX VAUSE:
To those of you who have the misfortune of serving under me, please know that my strict tactics made for a smooth running operations with as few casualties as were possible. They were not personal. All of those lost over the years weigh heavy on my heart, but I know that they gave their lives in service of this country and what this organization stood for. I have struggled with the knowledge that HYDRA infiltrated our ranks for as long as they did, but I have no doubts that we will rise from the ashes like the phoenix.
Today may mark the beginning of the end for SHIELD, but for many of us, it also brings the end of our beginning. We will not cower, but we will stand up for what we believed in. We will accept the consequences of our decisions. We will move forward without regrets. I promise you that SHIELD will not die here and now, but become something bigger than it was before.
As the late, great Director Fury said, "a man can accomplish anything when he realizes he's a part of something bigger. A team of people that share that conviction can change the world." That is what SHIELD has always been, and what we will continue to be, no matter the outcome.
You should have a delivery soon with two vouchers in our name for wherever it is that you want to go. I couldn't get specific dates, but I promise we'll go away when I get back.
