FILTERED TO PETER PARKER 616:

Okay, so whenever I had science-y type questions, I'd go and talk to Hank because you know, HELLO. Mr. Brain there. But he's not here, and HEY I've seen your face and you know Osborn and Oscorp better than anyone so aren't you just so lucky?

ANYWAY.

Um, so. Remember way back when and I was talking about Oscorp and stuff? And I had been following Cannon? Yeah, he got powers. The same one's he's got in our world. Any idea how that might have happened?

Right? I felt a little like Spider-Man with that comeback.

That is not a good feeling at all. At least we've got some heroes here to help, huh? There's probably a few just lying around that just need the jump start here, too.

Probably more like him than I do right now. I think waiting on line at the bank saps my powers. Augggghhh fiscal responsibility.

Oh, we've got plenty of people who'd rally. And plenty who would just as soon pop Osborn's head off his shoulders if they were given the chance. We'll just have to dig.

Aww, Spidey! I love banks, and they love me, but I know NOTHING about responsibility.

Well, first things first, I don't wanna take this to the Avengers if he got his powers in some other non-conventional way. No use raising the alarm, and if he's the only one, I can take him out, you know?

Yeah? Buy a house. I feel like I can't get away from them lately.

Hey, I'm with you. Don't get me wrong. There's a big, honkin' reason why I sat on what I was finding out with Oscorp when it came to the Avengers.

Well, you know, that's one of the reasons I'm sticking around the Tower. All my money goes into costuming and Henry and food. Sometimes I buy a nice bottle of wine. (Almost wrote whine which isn't exactly inaccurate either.)

The thing with the Lizard? I thought that was mostly common knowledge? Well, that there was a lizard, not where he came from and stuff.

Yeeeeeah. I feel like this is the moment for something about THERE IS NO PRICE ON FREEDOM except for the bajillion dollars it takes to live independently.

The thing after Connors. Had a rash of mutagen on the streets making people turn all types of ugly and feisty. It cooled down after we busted up a shipment, but I think I've been getting way lax here. Of course it isn't over with just that. There's always another trick up Osborn's sleeve.

Feeling the urge to support a Spider-Man back in our universe.

Aw man, mutagen? Are we talking like a MGH thing? Any kind of super with the ugly and/or fiesty? I'm just trying to pinpoint how he could get these whirlwind powers without something to do it. There wasn't any kind of machine strapped to him, and even if there was, he'd just get sick from the vertigo.

If it's a Spider-Man with an attitude problem and claws, uh... don't. Don't support him. Kick him in the shins for me, actually.

Like what jumpstarted Lizard, I mean. It wears off, but people dosed get all hybrid species scary. Don't think it's gonna relate directly to your guy, but we won't know that until we get some data.

Hmm. That sounds like a story, and one you don't look too happy to tell.

So animals, not really spinners. I'm still stumped at how anyone could just gain those powers here. In our world. that'd be simple. He'd have to be a mutant, or he'd been working with AIM or HYDRA or any number of groups. I wasn't around for Osborn's take-over so all I had were archives to read, and I didn't get much time before I came here.

Let's just say that the guy behind the mask back home isn't me.

I think you can file Oscorp in with AIM and HYDRA. They just look a little more squeaky clean from the outside.

Ock? He's behind the mask there? I mean, I'd rumors of "something's up" with Spider-Man, but I didn't think it was something like that. Sorry to hear that. I'll be sure to sting his butt.

Any way you slice it, we need to figure out where he got those powers from. If he's got them, someone else probably does, too.

Yeah. Ock. And a big heap of no one realizing they buried the wrong gu It's the job, right? We all know there's risk.

ANYWAY.

And if he's got them, and anyone can get them? Let's avoid super powers being something Osborn can mass produce.

Doesn't mean it doesn't suck beyond the telling of it. I felt pretty terrible coming back to find out everyone thought I was dead, you know? And that's not even close to what you went through.

For real. I mean, we've all been complaining about how boring this place is, but I'll take boring if it means we don't have to deal with that.

Nah, don't compare. Things suck either way. No one had a good reason to go looking for us when everyone could make sense of the outcome, I guess. It is was it is. Avengers don't ditch other Avengers on purpose. Not really.

Yeah, or boring just means we're not looking in the right places.

Never. Not unless there's no other option - and even then, we still don't. Someone's bound to go looking, Peter. The difference between you and Ock is huge. I mean, does he even have a sense of humor?

Oh god, what if boring just means the supervillains aren't as stupid here?

Unless they dig up After a year, I don't know what'll be left to find in Otto Octavius's grave. All I really hope is that someone figures out that Ock swiped my body before another year goes by. People should know that much.

Might be that. Who knows? So far we keep coming up on this whole idea of corporations with seedy stuff happening in the back rooms. It's a different ball game.

Wait. So. You actually died in Ock's place? And he's running around in your body, pretending to be you? Oh god, what about your family? Your Avengers access? That's the scariest thing I've heard of in a long time.

God, I miss the days when villains would monologue their plans for long enough for us to thwart them.

Yeah. I just Last I heard was from MJ. She said he's been ignoring my Aunt and her. Guess he got put on Avengers probation, too, for all the good that did. Just not really in the habit of telling people that I know what I have to go back to, y'know? I'm no special snowflake out here.

Man, you're going way back with that. Says the guy who still narrates his fights. Cough. At least I'm entertaining about it, though.

Peter, I don't know what's going on back home, and I don't know why no one's noticed, but you are special. And not just in the everyone is special way. You were always one of my favorites because you always stuck to the mentality that everyone could be redeemed. You're allowed to feel bad about what's going on back there. You're even allowed to be mad at the Avengers, no matter how irrational you think it is.

I can't shut up during a fight either. And I'm the one who just made a sting reference, and then laughed at her own joke. So ha! We can be dorks. It's okay.

All I got is that it wouldn't do me much good telling people off. Hell, I'm probably at fault for most of it. Always been the Avenger who kept at an arm's length. Easier to focus on the extra time I'm getting right now. More to be grateful for than not, right?

I tried to find something all nice and spiders-and-wasps-can-be-pals but nope. Jan, I think we've got a problem.
