If you have a real, solid reason why you don't want to do something, then just say so, and I'll leave you alone. You don't have to say what it is.

But "not a big thing" isn't a reason. My birthday doesn't feel like a big deal either, but we still did something for it, and it was really nice.

I had a hard time finding something for him. He doesn't really want or need anything. I got him a wooden watch.

I think if you bake him a cake, that would be enough. Or maybe knit him a beanie for when he doesn't wash his hair.
