I'm either going to need some sort of soundproof warding on my apartment, or, like... move before I piss off more neighbors. Who'd be willing to help me? I'll pay even. Cash or food.

And by that, I mean helping with the soundproofing. I am definitely not leaving this apartment in my state.

So how about a trip to NYC Pride in two weeks with your bisexual girlfriend? Not amidst the crowd per se, but I'm sure we can find a rooftop that won't be crowded.

Are we still working on being a better superhero without sight with meditation and stuff like that?

Well, there are a few different ways to do it. Which one you choose depends on how soundproof you really need the place to be.

One of the simplest ways is to add more drywall, with or without additional layers of caulk. Then there are other materials like mass-loaded vinyl, or acoustic panels made of porous expanded polypropylene. Vinyl is my personal preference in terms of durability and sound diminishing, but it's also heavier and harder to install.

And there are a lot of other little things you can do, like adding caulk around doors and switch boxes and so on can help plug up sound leaks, too. Sometimes the door itself is the leak and could be replaced with a heavier one. Adding rugs and curtains and so on does add some soundproofing as well.

I'm not exactly rolling in money right now so I wouldn't have enough for labor that involves "heavier and harder". We can start with the latter then.

Well, it's not really much more expensive, since it comes in big rolls. The acoustic paneling is about $25 bucks for a 2' x 2' square, and the vinyl is $95 for a 15' x 54" roll. That's before my employee discount on everything from the hardware store. Also, it's not a lot more labor -- in terms of time spent -- than putting in new drywall and caulking, especially if Jason's helping me.

Of course, if even the material costs still sound too expensive, I can just do the drywall and caulking and plugging up the leaks, and you can add in some wall hangings or carpets, that's the cheapest option. But, if you really need the heavy duty stuff, I'm sure we can work out the money part.

Getting wall hangings and carpet is still going to require someone helping me. We can go with the acoustic paneling then.

Okay. How many rooms are you looking to soundproof? I'll need to take some measurements.

Just the living room is fine.

You got it. Let me know when a good time would be to come over and measure it.
